RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurately develop, write, and edit material for internal and external technical publications
  • Communicate and interact with other departments to obtain clarity and agreement regarding the content of publications
  • Understand and work per established HET standards based on ATA (Air Transport Association) technical writing guidelines and applicable government regulations and procedures
  • Revise and improve internal standards as required for continuous improvement
  • Conduct research of installation eligibility and service requirements for products produced by outside manufacturers in the general aviation market segment
  • Incorporate and manage approved Engineering changes in maintenance manuals, parts catalogs and wiring diagram manuals
  • Work with Maintenance Programs, Maintenance Task Planning, Engineering and QA to ensure compliance with program and regulatory requirements
  • Editing graphics and publishing documents for electronic and paper distributions 
  • Coordinating manual revision schedules and the implementation with the FAA and other Company departments 
  • Contribute to department strategic goals
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Supplemental Responsibilities:

 

  • Proactively conduct discussions with internal/external customers in the development of source data, making sure it meets technical publication requirements.
  • Directly collaborate with Research and Development, Production, Completions Center, and Customer Support personnel to develop, review, and approve technical procedures.
  • Provide process improvement recommendations to leadership that can reduce overall department cost and/or increase productivity.
  • Contribute to development and continuous improvement of department styles, standards, operating procedures, and priorities.
  • Provide input to leadership on new processes or technology to enhance the Technical Publications business model.
  • May assist in estimating, quoting and planning in support of aircraft modifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in and engineering or technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the primary responsibilities in authoring of technical publications documents.
  • 3+ years of technical writing or technical publications experience, to include using industry standards to develop/revise technical documents in word processing applications.  
  • Prior knowledge and experience with aircraft installations, modifications and the fabrication of wiring and electrical components, fixtures, and associated equipment in accordance with blueprints, worksheets, and engineering drawings.
  • Extensive knowledge of aircraft system methodology gained through practical experience is required.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills are required.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering data is required. Experience with 3-D data is desired.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft/hand tools, test equipment, parts nomenclature, maintenance procedures, and aircraft equipment (obtained through experience, research, or training) is required.
  • General knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements (14 CFR Part 21, 23, 25, 145).
  • Ability to work in and around the aircraft and tight spaces (avionics bays, etc).
  • Travel on occasion.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Advanced typing skills are required.
  • Experienced in electrical design CAD package(s).

Highly Desired:

 

  • Exposure to aircraft modifications (AMT, repairman, A&P, etc), FAA and aircraft OEM standard practices, and FAA certification
  • Experience and skill with authoring and publishing software tools such as Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe FrameMaker. Competence with graphics tools such as Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop desired.
  • NCATT certification
