Job Title: HR Generalist

Reports to: HR Director

Status: Full-Time (32 hours), Exempt

Location: East Side Neighborhood Services Hybrid (in office + home once trained)

JOB SUMMARY:

As an integral part of the Human Resources team, the Human Resources Generalist serves as a partner to the HR Director, executive team, and employees of ESNS with a focus on recruiting, employee onboarding, benefits administration, and compliance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Talent Acquisition 30%

In partnership with HR Director (Full Cycle Recruiting includes Onboarding)

  1. Recruitment Strategy: Work with HR Director to develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract top talent and build your talent acquisition portfolio.
  2. Job Posting and Advertising: Creating compelling job postings and advertising vacancies across various platforms to reach a diverse pool of candidates.
  3. Candidate Screening: Reviewing resumes, conducting initial screenings, and evaluating candidates’ qualifications against job requirements.
  4. Interview Coordination: Scheduling and coordinating interviews between candidates and hiring managers.
  5. Candidate Experience: Ensuring a positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment process, from initial contact through onboarding.
  6. Candidate Relationship Management: Building and maintaining relationships with candidates to create a pipeline for future job openings.
  7. Data Management: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of candidate information recruitment metrics.
  8. Compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations governing recruitment and hiring processes.
  9. Collaboration: Collaborating with hiring managers and other stakeholders to understand their hiring needs and priorities.
  10. Continuous Improvement: Identifying areas for improvement in the recruitment process and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Talent Management Support 10%

In partnership with HR Director

  1. Job Description Refinement/Optimization for current staff
  2. Participate in strategy meetings for recruitment.
  3. Work with HR Director to manage employee retention.
  4. Work with HR Director to manage and approve staff PAF requests.
  5. Assist HR Director and Leadership team in conducting all staff salary survey as needed.
  6. Work with Paycom to administer COLA increases as needed.

Employee Relations - 30%

In partnership with HR Director

  1. Develops and sustains proactive relationships with assigned business partners.
  2. Functions as a neutral contact for internal concerns/complaints brought forward by employees or managers, investigates and in collaboration with Director of Human Resources.
  3. Interprets and communicates policies and procedures to managers and employees to ensure fair and consistent practices.
  4. Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
  5. Assists with processing of terminations.
  6. Assists with the preparation of the performance review forms.
  7. Assists the HR Director with the Employee Engagement Committee; including leading various task forces as they are identified.
  8. Files papers and documents into appropriate employee files.
  9. Assist with planning employee events to include annual celebrations, wellness events and ad hoc celebrations.
  10. Prepare documents and assist with staff training and events.

Benefits and Payroll - 20%

  1. Conducts benefits enrollment for new employees. Health, Life, Dental, Retirement, HSA, FSA.
  2. Reconciles the benefits statements.
  3. Performs payroll/benefit-related reconciliations.
  4. Completes bi-weekly payroll on the Paycom payroll system.
  5. Develop and deliver the annual Open Enrollment of Benefits and coordinating benefits processes with third party vendors (current broker is USI)
  6. Completes terminations of benefits for exiting employees and enrolls them in COBRA.
  7. Assist employees with benefit questions and concerns.

Other Duties - 10%

  1. Conducts audits of various payroll, benefits or other HR programs and recommends any corrective action.
  2. Assists HR Department with various research projects and/or special projects.
  3. Schedules meetings and interviews as requested by the Human Resources Director.
  4. Schedules conference rooms for meetings as necessary
  5. Makes photocopies, fax documents and performs other clerical functions.
  6. Assists or prepares correspondence.
  7. Processes mail.
  8. Order office supplies as requested.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the Human Resource Director who reports to the President. The incumbent will interact with employees from all levels of the organization. Critical relationships will include Sr. Leadership and Finance. Collaborate with other Program Managers and staff to implement compliance within the organization.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Must possess a minimum of five years of HR experience in the areas of recruiting and benefits.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, TEAMS).
  • Must have a strong knowledge of and understanding of Human Resource concepts and employment laws.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate ability to protect confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
  • Must be comfortable in dealing with significant levels of ambiguity.
  • A customer service mindset with the ability to build strong relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using sound judgment that is consistent with employment law, HR best practice and ESNS policies.
  • Ability to work with a variety of cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives.

Preferred

  • A BA/BS degree or 5 years of experience.
  • PHR
  • Knowledge and experience with PAYCOM HRIS.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in the office minimum 3 days/ week.

Compensation: $36.06 - $42.07 /hour

Hybrid Expectation: 60% in-office (NE Minneapolis), 40% remote
