Job Summary: 

The Director, Maintenance Workforce Development will be responsible for all aspects of professional development and training within the Maintenance and Global Product Support Division. In addition to having direct oversight of development and training for licensed technicians, this position will be responsible for the direction and further development of our apprentice program and licensing efforts. This position will report to the Chief Inspector.

 

  • Lead the Maintenance Apprentice Program. Establish a common curriculum across all facilities and define a formal course/on the job training syllabus.
  • Track the success and overall performance of AMT Apprentices.
  • Work with the Chief Inspector to identify training needs within the division.
  • Collaborate with the training professionals to develop course content for various in-house training programs.
  • Collaborate with related training departments to address relevant cross training opportunities.
  • Take steps to internalize all major maintenance training programs.
  • Teach basic operating principles of aircraft and their systems including component identification, location, function, interaction, servicing, repair, troubleshooting, overhaul, inspection, and safety.
  • Develop a centralized library (digital platform) of all training content and courseware.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for aircraft maintenance personnel in numerous locations domestically and internationally.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of maintenance training programs and adjust programs as needed.
  • Direct supervision and management of all maintenance training team members.
  • Monitor and maintain training records and certifications for all maintenance personnel.
  • Keep up to date with changes in aircraft technology and regulations to ensure training programs are current and relevant.
  • Prepare training site/environment for training sessions in advance of training commencement.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation Maintenance, Engineering, Education and/or related field experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in aircraft maintenance including experience with training and mentoring maintenance employees.
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations and aircraft maintenance practices.
  • Experience developing and delivering training programs. Experience in a true academic environment preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Read, write and speak fluent English. Multilingual a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of computer software programs, (Windows, PowerPoint, Word, Photo Editor, Adobe Pro) to develop, revise and deliver training material and presentations.
  • Ability to travel to remote locations to conduct training sessions as needed. Travel required - 15%
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • May need to lift up to fifty (50) pounds on occasion.
