Reports to: Assistant Director of Operations

Position Summary: 

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Operations, responsible for the effective and successful management of parts inventory and safety measures as established within the Building Maintenance Field as it relates to the following areas; carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, painting, vehicles and equipment, along with any other miscellaneous maintenance items.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure the safety of the work environment as well as the safety of co-workers. 

  • Immediately notify the supervisor of emergencies and safety concerns.

  • Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Operations, manage the Operations Department Safety plan including conducting safety meetings, training and staying current on applicable Federal, State and local safety laws and regulations. Keep accurate and up to date SDS sheets to comply with OSHA Standards. 

  • Maintain shop inventory, work with vendors to order parts and supplies to maintain full stock of daily used items. Manage all parts areas and maintain a clean, organized inventory and well maintained maintenance yard. 

  • Oversee the flow of parts by monitoring/managing shop inventory. 

  • Work with Field Supervisor to perform analysis of our inventory to ensure we are utilizing our inventory effectively.

  • Prepare requisitions for purchasing approval via material request form.

  • Work with vendors to return parts when necessary. 

  • Source new suppliers for better pricing and quality products.

  • Perform other duties as assigned including load sharing with grounds, housekeeping, set- ups, overtime and special events as required.



 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in the building maintenance field.

  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of established best management practices within the building maintenance field as it relates to safety, parts inventory and purchasing, for the following areas; vehicles and equipment, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, painting, along with any other miscellaneous maintenance items 

  • Ability to deal effectively with a broad range of individuals within and outside of campus. 

  • Strong mechanical aptitude. 

  • Possess excellent communication skills.

  • Follow oral and written instructions. 

  • Hold a valid and current Florida driver’s license in good standing.
