ENTITY: Mt. Olivet Cemetery was consecrated in 1892 and is located on the western side of the Denver Metro area in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. It is the largest cemetery in Colorado containing 392 acres. St. Simeon Cemetery was consecrated in 2004 and is located on the eastern side of the Denver Metro area in Aurora, Colorado. The Mortuary has two locations. The first is located on the grounds of Mt. Olivet Cemetery and was opened in 1981. The second was the recent acquisition of Caldwell-Kirk Mortuary. These entities serve the Catholic Community of the Denver metro area and its various parishes, missions, and apostolates and other members of the public regardless of their religious affiliation.
THE POSITION: The Cemetery Services Specialist works in direct collaboration with the Assistant Superintendents and is responsible for the opening and closings for interments, entombments, inurnments, and disinterment, as well as the installation of memorials and markers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Performs openings & closings for burials, entombments, and inurnments, per company procedure,
- Disinterment (with approval of Executive Director),
- Sets, installs, and assembles foundations, memorials, and markers,
- Installs outer burial containers,
- Handles and completes work orders from client families as it pertains to individual grave and marker maintenance,
- Responds to and completes requests for service/work orders,
- Conducts radius preparation for burials and ensures the area is clean and neat,
- Fills grave, tamps, seeds or sods,
- Performs all landscaping activities as needed, including but not limited to, water, mow, weed, plant, trim and prune,
- Maintains and protects Company assets by performing regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and facilities,
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area,
- Observe safety rules and ensure compliance with the operating procedures of corporate, federal, state and local regulations, including OSHA regulations,
- Snow removal and the removal of ice from the grounds as needed,
- Operate maintenance equipment such as dump trucks, cement trucks, backhoes, front loaders and power tools such as mowers, edger and blowers; maintain hand tools and assigned equipment; repair equipment as necessary,
- Promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment by complying with the provisions of the Cemeteries,
- Perform basic security function by observing traffic flow into and out of grounds, guarding against vandalism when possible,
- Ability to acquire and share grief ministry resources to families and visitors including, but not limited to, handing out prayer cards, participating in grief ministry counseling session, etc.
- Ability to recognize sensitive information and adhere to strict confidentiality,
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
