Are you ready to help Midwest Transplant Network (MTN), the Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) serving a population of 5.5 million in Kansas and Missouri, achieve our mission of saving lives by joining our team? MTN is actively seeking an individual to assume the position of Laboratory Support Coordinator. This is a full time position based out of the Westwood, KS office. The Laboratory Support Coordinator is responsible for the efficient operation of the Central Processing Area functions and for maintenance of client satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

1. Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Laboratory Central Processing Area. This includes training and directing other laboratory employees that may rotate through this section.

2. Log in all laboratory tests and samples following quality assurance guidelines established by Midwest Transplant Network.

3. Aliquot and store antibody screen samples.

4. Establish and maintain a professional service business interaction with the clients of the laboratory. This includes handling service related (non-technical) problems and communicating client feedback to the Laboratory Leadership.

5. Responsible for the inventory and revision of the laboratory requisitions and result report forms.

6. Download laboratory billing list and work closely with the finance department to ensure accurate billing of laboratory tests.

7. Responsible for sending out test results and reviewing result report forms for correct formatting.

8. Responsible for the accurate and timely mailing of kits.

9. Appropriately and effectively communicate lab testing of STAT DSA’s with lab staff during morning meeting and throughout the day as needed.

10. Maintains and modifies UNOS list for all MTN affiliated transplant centers in conjunction with those centers and the MTN HLA lab.

11. Responsible for completing all recipient follow-up and data entry following transplantation of locally procured organs and locally transplanted organs.

12. Functions as data coordinator and UNOS contact person responsible for completion of all donor related UNOS forms.

13. Phone reception duties as part of the regular reception area coverage schedule.

 

 

Qualifications & Behavioral Competencies

QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

1. Associates degree in biological sciences or medical technology. Undergraduate degree in biological sciences or medical technology or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience is preferred.

2. Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.

3. Must maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with MTN motor vehicle policy. Must have reliable personal automobile transportation to be used with company reimbursement using IRS guidelines. Must be able to travel within the service area by ground or air.

4. Excellent organization and time management skills; ability to function independently and collaboratively; good problem-solving and creative thinking skills and well-developed personal stress management skills.

5. Ability to lift 50 pounds and transfer short distances.

6. Possess manual dexterity sufficient to operate telephones, computers and surgical equipment.

7. Ability to speak and communicate clearly in order to accurately convey information in person or by phone.

8. Ability to hear at normal audio levels of speaking whether in person or over the phone.

9. Vision correctable to 20/40 to read patient charts.

10. Home internet and wireless phone access may be required.
