Summary: Provide Occupational Therapy services to persons served by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Facilitates development and rehabilitation of patients with mental, emotional and physical disabilities by planning and administering medically prescribed occupational therapy. Duties include but not limited to the following:

 

CLIENT SERVICES

Reviews social history, psychological, medical, and previous therapy reports/records.

 

Interviews individual/caregiver to discuss and establish needs.

 

Administers appropriate tests and evaluates to determine functional level and potential.

 

Communicates information to team participants and provides input for treatment plan development.

 

Makes referral or recommendation for therapy and/or equipment.

 

THERAPY

Develops treatment plan from physician's orders and evaluation results.

 

Conducts individual and/or group sessions within clinic to work on specific objectives.

 

Communicates program and program changes to team members for consistency and reinforcement throughout disciplines.

 

Modifies treatment and equipment when necessary in response to development and progress within present treatment.

 

Completes paperwork and other documentation as required by the program, licensing agencies, and funding sources, e.g. progress notes, attendance records, flow sheets, etc.

 

Utilizes appropriate methods to manage inappropriate behavior/responses

 

GUIDANCE

Counsels individual, parents and/or family members regarding treatment programs and home programming and follow-through.

 

Provides inservice to staff regarding treatment materials and techniques.

 

May supervise practicum students.

 

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH

Attends in-service education programs.

 

Attends job-related short courses, meetings, conventions, etc.

 

Reads and researches professional journals texts related to practice standards of pediatric occupational therapy

 

Compliance/HIPAA:

While performing the duties of this job, employee will comply with all federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to Easter Seals Arkansas.

 

Employee has access to all client protected health information of the individuals directly served by this person, except psychotherapy notes. Employee will not attempt to access any other protected health information unless otherwise approved by Supervisor or Privacy Officer.

Qualifications

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited four-year college or university.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and skills to use basic word processing and data entry software for report writing and development of treatment plans.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Licensed Occupational Therapist in Arkansas

Valid Arkansas Driver's License

NBCOT Certification
