Description

The Director, Wichita Operations is responsible for the oversight of all operations and personnel within the Wichita, KS service area. This position ensures the coordination of activities aimed at maximizing the quantity and quality of organs and tissues recovered for transplantation. Simultaneously, the Director, Wichita Operations plays an active role in fostering an organizational culture, which is based on collaboration, support, and constructive feedback. Additionally, this position is dedicated to establishing strong relationships with key stakeholders in the Wichita region to ensure maximum satisfaction and success.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

ADMINISTRATION

  1. Manages assigned staff toward accomplishment of MTN’s Mission including: employee selection, scheduling and job assignment; training and development; counseling and coaching; appraisal and recognition; and recommending salary, promotional and disciplinary actions in accordance with existing policies and procedures.
  2. Provides information and interacts with the MTN Leadership Team and key stakeholders on donation related issues to maintain a high level of service and support.
  3. Provides the executive staff with direction and input from a satellite perspective, in order to develop and implement solutions to MTN’s goals.
  4. Supports a team environment and integrated approaches within responsible departments and throughout MTN to achieve common goals.
  5. Promotes the Mission and goals of MTN by participating in associations and programs aimed at maximizing the organ and tissue recovery and transplantation process.
  6. Actively fosters collaborative relationships with key hospital, transplant, AOPO and other OPO staff members to ensure effective communication and workflow throughout the donation process.
  7. Regularly monitors and identifies situations where processes need to be reviewed and revised, working collaboratively with the Chief Clinical Officer, Chief Stakeholder Engagement Officer, and other key members of the leadership team.
  8. Charged with driving success and growth as it relates to the Wichita service area, in coordination with the Strategic Plan.
  9. Maintains professional relationships and rapport with leadership, medical, nursing, and ancillary staff within and outside of the organization.
  10. Serves as an internal consultant in developing professional education programs to ensure accuracy and integrity of information, and consistency of content.
  11. Serves as primary contact for the Wichita office for building operations.

CLINICAL

  1. Works with family services and organ procurement leadership to develop a strong working knowledge of the clinical process to ensure maximum performance and leadership of the family services and organ procurement roles in the Wichita region.

HOSPITAL SERVICES

  1. Establishes strong relationships with executives, leadership, and other key individuals in the Wichita area hospitals.
  2. Works with leadership to establish and implement a hospital service/marketing plan targeting hospitals within the region, which meet guidelines and standards.
  3. Assists in assigning hospital accounts to coordinators based on capabilities, the best use of available resources, and the needs of the organization.
  4. Assists the staff in developing action plans for each area hospital tailored to the needs of the hospital.
  5. Works with leadership team to develop strategies and future action plans for increasing donation within area hospitals.
  6. Oversees the development of educational materials for presentations, in-services, seminars, and meetings.

COMMUNITY SERVICES & PUBLIC RELATIONS

  1. Works with CE/PR marketing leadership and team to identify community needs which promotes the importance of donation in the Wichita region.
  2. Serves as a media contact and spokesperson when needed.

GENERAL

  5. Ability to read and comprehend patient charts.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Undergraduate degree in health sciences or equivalent required. Master’s degree preferred. A minimum of three years of healthcare leadership experience required.
  2. Strong organizational, problem analysis and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to motivate peers and achieve cooperation.
  3. Demonstrated strong leadership abilities, including experience in collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
  4. Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and participate in 24-hour call. Required to work for extended periods of time with few breaks.
  5. Microsoft office proficiency required.
  6. Must maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with MTN motor vehicle policy. Must have reliable personal automobile transportation to be used with company reimbursement using IRS guidelines. Must be able to travel within the service area by ground or air.
  7. Ability to lift 50 pounds and transfer short distances.
  8. Possess the ability to operate telephones, computers, and office equipment.
  9. Ability to speak and communicate clearly in order to accurately convey information to donor families, hospital staff and transplant/procurement personnel in person or by phone.
  10. OSHA Category II Occasional exposure to bloodborne pathogens while performing assigned job duties. Bloodborne pathogens protection is required.
  11. Home internet and wireless phone access may be required.
