Clay Lacy Aviation is looking for a Sr. Payroll Specialist to support our team during the Payroll Supervisor’s leave of absence. The ideal candidate will have a strong payroll background and provide support and oversight to the Payroll department as well as help increase productivity in the Human Resources department. Position Summary

Sr. Payroll Specialist is responsible for overseeing the payroll function in an accurate and efficient manner. This person will be responsible for processing payroll for 800+ employees, garnishments, multi-state payroll, verification of employment, personnel action forms, overseeing the Payroll Specialist, and assisting the HR department in any way needed.


This position is a temporary assignment with a duration of 4-6 months.

  • Working knowledge of payroll best practices, with a strong knowledge of federal and state regulations, FLSA, and a full understanding of sensitive and confidential information.
  • Serving as lead for the Payroll department and overseeing payroll staff in processing semi-monthly and biweekly payrolls of 800+ employees.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing.
  • Strong PC skills, including advanced Excel ability.
  • Strong background in federal and state tax compliance
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and function with a high degree of professionalism and integrity in an energetic, demanding team environment.
  • Updates Payroll System with New Hires, Terminations, Salary, Personal, and other information.
  • Reviewing and approving PAF’s in the HRIS for all or any employee changes.
  • Receiving, completing, and mailing of all garnishments in a timely manner; adjusting payroll records, documenting and transmitting withholdings.
  • Supporting Accounting department with ad hoc reports and employee pay data for budgeting, auditing, and billing purposes
  • Accountable for E-Verify program compliance
  • Oversees the accurate updates of records by reviewing changes in exemptions, insurance changes, deductions, paid-time not worked, status, and pay; calculating vacation earned.
  • Verifying and processing on-call and commissions payments for Charter, Aircraft Outside Sales, and Aircraft Management departments.
  • Reconciliation and funding of 401k and HSA plans
  • Supervise Payroll Specialist.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned




Minimum of 7 years payroll experience.


Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated excellent analytical skills, problem-solving ability, and strong critical thinking skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Experience working with HRIS/Payroll systems such as ADP, Paychex, and Paycom.
  • Experience specifically with Paycom is a plus
  • Familiarity with Safe Harbor 401k plan administration
  • Proven ability to work both independently on projects and as part of a larger team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven project management, organizational and time-management skills.
  • Is open to flexible hours and schedules.
