What are we looking for in a Medical Assistant?
Medical Assistants are part of our Nursing Services team and provide varied clinical and administrative support to ensure the delivery of high-quality treatment for our clients. The Medical Assistant will meet with clients prior to their appointments to check vitals, obtain health history and list of current medications, and accurately record this information in the client’s health record. Medical Assistants may also assist with client education, assist with insurance authorizations, and follow up on lab results. This Medical Assistant position will split time between two programs: our urgent care walk-in clinic for primary care, which will be open to the general public with emphasis on supporting our existing behavioral healthcare clients, and our on-site behavioral health clinic at Camp Hope, a low-barrier emergency homeless shelter located in Yakima. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to build rapport quickly, and sincere compassion for clients who are experiencing significant individual and systemic challenges. To support the expanded hours of our walk-in clinic, this role will require working shifts including 9am-6pm and 9:30am-6:30am on weekdays and 9am-1pm on Saturdays.

  • assisting with client education as directed by medical providers or nurses
  • facilitating urine drug screening as required and communicating results to clinical staff
  • obtaining prior authorizations from payors as requested
