Position Summary

The Flight Operations Ground Instructor (FOGI) is responsible for providing ground-based instruction for Pilots, Cabin Attendants, and OCC personnel at Clay Lacy Aviation. The FOGI will conduct initial and recurrent basic indoctrination, emergency drill training, lead captain training, and other specialty courses as assigned by the Director of Training.



  • Provides technical instruction, support, and facilitation for ground training courses for pilot, cabin attendants and OCC personnel in subject areas such as CRM, Fatigue, Basic Indoc, Security, Weight and Balance, and Hazmat in a classroom and job-specific setting
  • Ensures that all training is conducted in accordance with company policies and directives and that they comply with the appropriate government and regulatory agencies
  • Develops and maintains lesson plans, instructor guides, curriculum, and training aids for classroom-based training
  • Performs administrative duties including the development and administration of exams, producing and maintaining accurate and complete rosters and training records
  • Provides other technical support by assisting in the creation of new material and edits/revision of existing technical information in all Flight Operations-related Company Manuals
  • Conducts continual self-analysis of training methods and procedures and recommends improvements that result in a professional, high quality and cost-effective training program
  • Maintains classrooms and other training facilities in a clean and neat condition
  • Monitors student progress and intervenes with additional training when needed
  • Other related duties as assigned. 


  • An Associate degree (Preferred) with 3 years’ experiences directly related to duties and responsibilities specified or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent required



  • Previous airline or aviation classroom teaching experience preferred
  • Able to create a positive learning environment for students with an ability to communicate complex technical subjects clearly and effectively
  • Experience as a pilot or mechanic preferred

  • Ability to work additional hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of adult learning methods and techniques

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Ability to travel 25% to offsite locations to conduct training
