SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This multifaceted position is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, administering, and repairing information/communication/networking technology hardware/software equipment, analyzing agencies requests for service and maintenance calls, and leading multiple projects which require sound decision making and good project management skills. Due to the type of industry, work may be performed in ADCOM911 IT shop environment or other facilities and availability must be 24/7/365.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and resolve events
  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish tasks
  • Coordinate as needed with members of the IT team and work collaboratively to complete ongoing projects and assigned tasks
  • Maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others
  • Keep uptodate technically and apply new knowledge to IT resources
  • Perform other related work as required

DUTIES ASSIGNED TO SPECFIC JOB FUNCTION:

  • Assist and/or perform corrective and preventive hardware maintenance on, switches, firewalls, uninterruptable power supplies (UPS), and other data center infrastructure.
  • Successfully support mission-critical business systems through the design, deployment, and maintenance of local and wide area network (LAN/WAN) infrastructure technologies.
  • Provide documentation for configurations and maintaining enterprise repository of systems documentation.
  • Support and troubleshoot a mix of networking technologies including MPLS, Multi VRF and BGP working within a public safety dispatch environment.
  • Configuration, provisioning, and deployment of designed network solutions from build to deployment within IP Routing, MPLS / BGP environment.
  • Act as the first responder to infrastructure troubletickets including LAN/WAN/WLAN switching, network protocols, cabling, remote access equipment, PC, server issues and telephony devices.
  • Administer enterprise monitoring software ensuring that all network systems are performing as expected.
  • Create documentation and maintain the enterprise repository of systems documentation.
  • Collaborate and assist with the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of Layer 2 and 3 routing/switching hardware, software and configurations, server hardware, video teleconferencing hardware and software, WIFI, telephony equipment, and network security systems.
  • Provide afterhours support for technical issues, as needed.
  • Provide research and recommendations on new technologies.
  • Provide telecommunications network design, programming and installation support services for server, desktop applications and hardware.
  • Review cabling infrastructure standards, codes, design, and troubleshooting process.
  • Test new devices to determine viability and network implications.
  • Provide training to users as it relates to telecommunications equipment and features.
  • Review proposals for accuracy and completeness as well as pricing to ensure compliance to the contract.
  • Assist with architecting LAN/WAN/WLAN solutions for new construction or modifications to existing structures using architect plans, conducting corrective and preventive hardware maintenance on servers, switches, routers, and UPS systems; and troubleshooting WAN and Internet infrastructure.
  • Performing disaster recovery operations when required.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of the operation, uses and capabilities of computer and network equipment, and methods and techniques used to maintain and repair network equipment, and the hazards of the work and necessary safety precautions.
  • Must have a knowledge of service desk applications.
  • Must have the ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions, read and understand maintenance manuals and work from sketches, drawings, and diagrams, establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and vendors, carry out maintenance plans and repair schedules for technical resources.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as, leadership, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Must be a skilled technical writer and above all, a team player!
  • Specialization and proficiency in one or more of the identified specific job function areas is essential and require the following knowledge base:
  • Understanding of LAN and WAN technology
  • Knowledge of firewall technology, hardware, and software (Cisco Firepower)
  • Knowledge of VPN technology (Remote access& S2S)
  • Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, & controllers
  • Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced work environment
  • Experience with security and system infrastructure knowledge
  • Excellent with network monitoring tools, protocol analyzers, protocol data flows
  • Proficient at writing technical and business documentation
  • Excellent at troubleshooting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of Cisco UCS, VMWare, and multiple operating systems (Windows/Linux) is preferred

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED minimum required
  • Six years plus of Information Technology technical hands on experience using a combination of hardware, operating systems, and client server applications in an enterprise-wide distributed computing environment.
  • CCNA, CCIE, MCSE and
  • BS in Information Technology or equivalent preferred

POSSESSION OF OR ABILITY TO OBTAIN THE FOLLOWING LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Unrestricted Colorado Driver’s License or Colorado Identification Card.
  • CJIS Certification

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check
  • Will be required to attain CJIS clearance within 90 days upon hire
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check, if required

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL Requirements

  • Physical Demands - Regular standing and sitting; requiring the ability to lift a maximum of 40 pounds; occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing hand/eye coordination for operation of computer keyboard; vision for review and analysis of data and reports; frequent speech communication, hearing and listening to maintain communication with employees and agencies
  • Some moving, climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, lifting, pushing, and pulling
  • This job requires normal hearing and color vision 
  • Work Environment – Works in a clean, comfortable environment.  Some exposure to noise and unpleasant situations. One day per week remote work available.
  • Equipment Used - Personal computer, console equipment and other job-related equipment and tools.
