The Production Fabricator (PF) will be responsible for building the projects approved by the Design Team Management, under the direction and supervision of the Production Shop Manager (PSM) and the Production Shop Supervisor (PSS). The goal is to maintain and operate the shop in a safe and wholesome manner to ensure the health and safety of all staff. The PF will be expected to follow verbal instructions, as well as written 2d plan drawings. Additionally, the PF may be expected to work in areas outside their expertise, being flexible and teachable at  all  times along with being willing to instruct  others, if necessary. This humble, teachable attitude is needed to get any/all jobs accomplished by the specified end date, which may require additional hours, as deadlines get closer. This position should display our Core Values of SERVE (Serve, Equip, Relate, Value, Engage) when interfacing with both internal and external customers to ensure that the message and mission of Answers in Genesis is portrayed in an effective and God-honoring fashion.   • Build exhibits, exhibit elements, props, furniture, etc.
  • Produce exhibits using wood, metal, plastics, foam, etc.
  • Perform, with skill, various fabrication functions such as welding, cabinet building, mold making, building steel studded walls with sheetrock, finish carpentry work, and spray furniture staining/finishing in a spray booth.
  • Work successfully with a variety of building materials such as metal, wood, concrete, plastics, foam board, paint/stain and other finishing products, fiberglass and other materials.
  • Read design drawings and blueprints to produce exhibits and exhibit elements.
  • Translate concepts into 2D and 3D scale drawings. Proficient in the area of CAD design (familiarity with Vector works and/or Rhino CAD a plus).
  • Proficient in the cutting and welding of various metals including steel, stainless steel, galvanized steel and aluminum using MIG & TIG welding equipment.
  • Follow directions/cut lists with attention to detail when reading design drawings and blueprints to produce exhibits and exhibit elements
  • Follow proper channels of communication always exhibiting a Christ-like attitude
  • Work in a safety focused manner following OSHA guidelines and use of proper PPE.
  • Able to lead teams of volunteers as necessary to complete tasks.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
  • Must agree with and be able to sign our Statement of Faith.

  • Regularly attends a local, Bible-believing church.
  • Able to stay calm under pressure and work creatively with others as well as work swing shift and second shift, while being able to back up your ideas to others.

  • Work as a team member being mission focused and driven
  • Hands-on position requiring standing, bending and lifting (up to 80lbs). Must be able to perform heavy manual labor and deal with exposure to  a variety  of  weather conditions.
  • Must safely and effectively utilize chemicals which may present health hazards if not handled properly. Utilize dangerous power and hand equipment which may present health hazards if not used properly.

Education & Experience

  • At least 2 years' experience in wood/metal/ foam/ steel/or fiberglass fabrication
  • Any Certifications, Certificates of Completion, Licenses, or Degrees in your specified field are strongly encouraged
  • Current (within 5 years) OSHA 10 hour certificate
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
