Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region is seeking a motivated and outgoing individual to take on the role of Procurement Assistant.  The Procurement Assistant is responsible for developing and maintaining community relationships in order to procure business donations for resale in the ReStores. This position focuses on organizations, businesses, manufacturers, retail outlets, civic organizations and individuals that are making first-time or irregular donations.  The Procurement Assistant is responsible for sourcing and maintaining these donations across all of the Charlotte Region territory.

Job Description

 

Basic Functions: Develop and maintain community relationships in order to procure business donations for resale in the stores. This position focuses on organizations, businesses, manufacturers, retail outlets, civic organizations and individuals that are making first-time or irregular donations.  Responsible for sourcing and maintaining these donations across all of the Habitat Charlotte Region territory. 

 

Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):

  • Solicit and analyze potential donations from groups, organizations, businesses, individuals, etc.
  • Create outreach strategies (that may include cold-calling, researching construction schedules, or canvasing businesses) in order to generate donations to sustain the product flow within the ReStores
  • Seek out sponsorships for future expenditures (trucks, truck wraps, mobile mini containers, events, etc.)
  • Manage procurement donations from start to finish (initiating donor contact, facilitating/scheduling pickup, determining pricing, and delivering items to store locations)
  • Ensure that donor communications, meetings, and pickups are entered into Salesforce for proper donor tracking
  • Develop strong donor relationships with frequent touchpoints and follow ups to maintain and expand these relationships
  • Make presentations to organizations to build a quality base of donors.  Actively seek out new organizations to partner with
  • Communicate with ReStore Managers frequently in order to determine what items are ideal product donations for each location
  • Represent Habitat in a positive manner to all donors, customers and others you come in contact with
  • Network within the community to acquire information needed to increase appropriate business donations
  • Demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude when interacting with employees, donors, volunteers and the public
  • Be an effective team member when working with staff
  • Consistently provide an exceptional level of both internal and external customer service
  • Assist in picking up donated goods as needed
  • Dependable transportation to work
  • Must have and maintain a current driver’s license
  • Driving records must meet the standards defined by Habitat Charlotte Region’s policies and insurance carriers
  • Maintain full compliance with all applicable DOT, DMV and FMCSA regulations pertaining to operation of commercial motor vehicles
  • Ability to adhere to Habitat’s Code of Conduct policies and other policies
  • Habitat Charlotte Region-related tasks as requested by supervisor

 

Education/Skills Required:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with basic computer skills
  • Ability to work independently with strong decision-making skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to change easily
  • Sales, Management, and Nonprofit experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain DOT certification
  • Ability and willingness to drive a 16’-26’ box truck
  • A full understanding of ReStore merchandise and operations
  • Valid Driver’s License for at least five years (excluding a learners permit or foreign license)
  • Personal vehicle periodically required for business purposes

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to regularly stand, squat, bend, climb stairs, and climb in and out of cab and box truck multiple times a day
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather, including heat, cold and rain
  • Ability work in office environment as needed which requires ability to speak, hear, with the visual and manual dexterity to manage papers, reports, and typing
  • Must embody the capacity to maintain the following for several hours at a time: use of personal computer or similar technology, phone, sitting as required
  • Ability to communicate in person, over the phone and/or via computer
