About The Job

The research team at Bresslergroup works to provide insights to our design and engineering teams, as well as directly to our clients, to ensure that all product design and development efforts remain firmly grounded in user needs.

As a Human Factors & Usability Intern, you will work in collaboration with human factors researchers, design researchers, interaction designers, industrial designers, and engineering teams to ensure that products are safe and easy to use by the end user.

This internship will run from May -  August 2022.


Job Responsibilities

  • Work with our human factors and usability team to design, execute, and report on research at various stages of product development.
  • Assist the team in creating HF documentation (task analysis, study documentation, etc.)
  • Participate in conceptualization with multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Support our human factors and usability team in defining user needs, translating needs into measurable data, and heuristic reviews.
  • Assist and support team activities ranging from notetaking during usability sessions to project management related tasks, as needed.
  • Tackle team projects to add new skills, capabilities, tools, and best practices to our research tool kit.
About You


  • Pursuing a degree in Human Factors, Biomedical Engineering, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field.
  • Experience planning, scoping, conducting, analyzing, and communication research

Preferred Qualifications

  • You are passionate about human factors, usability testing, and creating the best product for our clients end user.
  • You have excellent writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills all needed for frequent user interaction during field research and usability testing.
  • You demonstrate high standards of workmanship and attention to detail and can help improve departmental processes and best practices.
  • You like to explore new territories and learn from others. You are happy to learn how to successfully lead clients through problem definition and the innovation process during workshop sessions.
  • You have a basic understanding of research methodologies and tools.
  • You may have experience in graphic design, photo, video and/or audio recording and editing.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and complexity, because sometimes that leads to the most unique, unexpected design solutions.
  • You want to work in a fast-paced environment, where things change quickly, and you're happy to adapt as situations shift.
  • You take initiative and are hungry to learn more about the product you are working on and how best you can support your team to ensure high quality deliverables.
