Salary: Salaries at Advanced Ionics are paid once monthly

Position Summary: You will be a member of our exciting, cutting-edge cell and stack durability testing program. This work includes, but is not limited to, assembling, and installing electrochemical cells in our test stations, performing various tests, reporting procedures, and maintaining detailed test result databases.

Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of the work are Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Collaborate with research and development teams to identify new testing needs and opportunities.
  • Report results in an extremely clear and concise manner to leadership.
  • Assemble electrolyzer cells in accordance with established specifications and guidelines.
  • Install and monitor cells in test stations to guarantee proper functionality.
  • Execute experiments, collect data, and ensure tests are carried out accurately and on schedule.
  • Record, analyze, and report test results in a timely manner.
  • Code new scripts for the automated operation of test stations.
  • Automate data analysis processes and determine methods by which to improve efficiency.
  • Maintain comprehensive test result databases to ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Address questions or concerns related to test results as needed.
  • Develop and maintain testing procedures to guarantee accurate and consistent results.
  • Clean and maintain testing equipment, including the recalibration of devices as required.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technical and scientific advancements in your field.

Qualifications

Professional Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years' experience in running electrochemical cycling and testing protocols with multi-cell electrolyzer or fuel cell stacks in industry or industry-funded/collaborated consortia
  • Ability to design accelerated durability and stress-testing protocols and integrate with modeling tools, such as Comsol or semi-empirical models
  • Understanding and hands-on experience with complete stack designs & builds
  • Astute understanding of materials and electrochemical degradation processes on the stack, cell and electrode assembly level
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues with complex systems 
  • Extremely strong spreadsheet and presentation-making skills  
  • Knowledge of methods by which to automate processing of large data sets
  • You have experience with Matlab, Python or similar programming tools
  • You are familiar with how to design experiments with statistics backed methods (preferred)
