Interaction Design
About the Job

Delve + Bresslergroup is seeking a Principal Interaction Designer to join us full-time in our Boston, Madison, Philadelphia, or San Francisco office locations. We are open to considering a remote working arrangement.

The Interaction Design team at Delve designs digital products and services for a variety of software environments and platforms, including graphical user interfaces for embedded systems, desktop applications, mobile apps, and web-based applications. Our work is equally focused on incremental improvements to existing solutions and the ground up design of innovative products and services that are new to our clients or even the world.

In this role, you will be responsible for using a highly collaborative process based on human-centered design principles to iteratively design, prototype, and evaluate software user interfaces from initial concept to execution. Members of the Interaction Design team are generalists and draw from a breadth of knowledge and technical skill in interaction design, as well as information architecture, visual design, and prototyping to ensure safe, effective, intuitive, and engaging digital experiences.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create and visually communicate an information architecture to enable the design of intuitive navigation and clear wayfinding.
  • Iteratively design and document the behavior of user interfaces via screen flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes at the appropriate level of fidelity based on project needs.
  • Leverage the fundamentals of visual design to apply brand-appropriate and usable styling to UI content and controls.
  • Effectively support and participate in design research and usability testing to uncover user needs, evaluate emerging design ideas, and identify refinement opportunities.
  • Represent the digital product design perspective and technical skillset for multiple project teams while championing opportunities and best practices for user-centered design.
  • Serve as the technical lead on large and complex client projects while mentoring team members.
  • Scope and quote new and continued projects in support of business development.

About You

  • 10+ years of digital product design experience with a demonstrably broad skillset including information architecture, interaction design, visual design, and prototyping
  • Consulting experience
  • Located and authorized to work in the United States. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship.

One of the following:

  • Experience designing software applications for healthcare, transportation, or other equivalent complex, technical, and heavily regulated industries
  • Experience designing human machine interfaces for medical devices, appliances, vehicles, industrial equipment, or other software-enabled hardware

Preferred Experience

  • You understand established UI patterns, when to employ them appropriately, and general best practices for human-computer interaction which you leverage to design software user interfaces for a range of platforms and environments.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and can leverage user and business insights to inspire divergent concept exploration and inform decisions around product features and requirements.
  • You can work independently with a high degree of autonomy and are able to clearly communicate both visually and verbally with key internal and external project stakeholders to keep them informed of your design needs, progress, and any potential obstacles.
  • You are a natural collaborator who knows when to include your project teammates and stakeholders in the design process and can effectively facilitate group activities, including in-person and remote work sessions and design reviews.
  • You are a convincing presenter and engaging storyteller who is comfortable on stage in front of an audience of clients and peers, whether presenting design work or offering your expert opinion.
  • You are motivated by change, and see the pandemic, social injustice, and our younger generations as meaningful opportunities to adapt how we design and collaborate, and what we deliver. Because equity, inclusion, and diversity are important to you, you have a point of view, personal or professional experience, or interest in helping make a difference.
