The AMA is seeking an organizational pro someone who will thrive on helping our most committed members support the organization. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated (and motivational!) volunteer coordinator who enjoys developing the people behind our mission-driven organization. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience and enjoy a high level of communication with AMA members and between departments within the organization. A background in volunteer or event coordination is required.


Job Description:

The AMA Volunteer Coordinator administers member volunteer activity, serving as the key administrative and organizational contact for all levels of member volunteers. In this role, you will run meetings, administer volunteer training, coordinate volunteer opportunities, plan and execute volunteer engagement and communication, and supervise volunteers on location. As part of the AMA Membership Marketing & Services Department, you will be a key part of the team that engages AMA members in ways that bring value to the member and the organization, while developing new and dynamic ways to stay involved and support the AMA mission.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Encourage members to engage as AMA volunteers through digital, print and on-location marketing opportunities
  • Supervise and manage volunteers on site at AMA-organized event, such as AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days
  • Administer the AMA EAGLES member training program
  • Provide administrative support for some of the AMAs most involved volunteer committees and commissions, including AMA Recreational Riding Commissions and AMA Hall of Fame Selection Committees
  • Respond to requests from AMA departments, AMA-chartered organizers and other partners for volunteer assistance
  • Help plan and administer recognition programs for AMA volunteers
  • Promote AMA volunteer opportunities to organizations and groups of motorcyclists
  • Communicate volunteer skills and abilities to AMA departments, AMA-chartered organizers and other partners
  • Interact with clubs and promoters, members and potential members, volunteers, sponsors, organizational partners, vendors, venues, municipalities, etc.
  • Support AMA event execution including coordinating set up and tear down activities
  • Support additional initiatives of the AMA Membership Marketing & Services Department
  • Other duties as assigned


Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge and Experience with the following software preferred:
    • MemberSuite or another association management software platform, NetResults, Formsite, Jotform, Google products including Google Classroom, Docs and Forms, and Office 365 as well as a general comfort level learning new software.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to think critically and strategically to solve issues and prevent future issues
  • Excellent computer skills including databases / spreadsheet
  • Ability to work well in stressful situations
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs; little/no strain; standing, walking, sitting
  • Environment: inside; some minor discomforts, outside; exposed to dust, fumes, noise


  • Bachelors degree in communications, marketing or related field.
  • 1-2 years of professional experience preferred. Entry-Level applicants will be considered
