POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The School Aged Child Care Site Coordinator is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the school age child care site and will plan, lead, and evaluate group experiences. This position operates at a specific school age site.  The incumbent provides high quality recreational experiences for children that focus on the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Plan, develop, supervise, and implement the program activities at the site.
  2. Manage curriculum planning for the site.
  3. Develop and distribute parent communications.
  4. Assist with the promotion of the Branch and school age childcare programs to the community.
  5. Make ongoing systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
  6. Obtain and update all registrations, contracts, release forms, and emergency forms that pertain to administration of the school age child program at the site.
  7. Maintain required program records such as attendance, daily schedules, and rosters.
  8. Manage site budget in conjunction with the Childcare Director.
  9. Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor
  10. Obtain minimum of 24 hours of professional development per year in a field related to children as required by DHS

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum age of 21.
  2. Has at least an Associate’s Degree or sixty college credit hours, with 18 of them in a field relating to education child development, human services, or recreation from an approved and accredited institution or higher education.
  3. Has at least 1 year of supervised experience working with children
  4. Minimum of one (1) year of previous supervisory experience.  
  5. Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, boating, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc…
  6. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
  7. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
