The Director, Consulting Services manages SCRIs consulting team to deliver a range of services across a diverse portfolio of clients focused on providing high-quality youth experiences.
SCRI prioritizes evidence-based practice, translating research and insights to improve programming and experiences for young people. Client consulting engagements range from strategy, planning and design, to research and evaluation, continuous improvement, and technical assistance.
The Director, Consulting Services manages SCRIs consulting team to deliver a range of high-quality services across a diverse portfolio of clients. Broad expertise in youth programming, client relationship management, capacity building, strategic planning, facilitation, and project management are critical for the Director role. Experience and demonstrated ability to supervise and manage a consulting staff to meet client needs is an important part of this role.
This pivotal leadership role will also be responsible for supporting the Partner, Consulting Services and Partner, Research and Evaluation Initiatives in the long-term growth and sustainability of the organization with such activities as building and diversifying SCRIs consulting engagement pipeline, branding and positioning, and expanding SCRIs external consultant network.
The Director, Consulting Services reports to the Partner, Consulting Services and will be responsible for overseeing SCRIs internal team of Education Consultants. The Director will have ability to travel up to 30% when conditions are safe to do so.
The Director, Consulting Services is responsible for client relationship management and leading SCRIs consulting team to deliver a range of high-quality services across a diverse portfolio of clients. All engagements are intended to improve access, quality, and outcomes in youth development and/or education.
Specific accountabilities include:
Manage SCRIs team of internal consultants on engagements, ensuring all approaches are grounded in evidence to meet client needs.
Build SCRIs engagement pipeline and review/respond to RFPs as well as draft/review proposals, budgets, and scopes of work for new client engagements.
Develop and manage a network of external consultants to support engagements, as needed.
Work with the Co-Partners to develops SCRIs short- and long-term strategy and ensure organizational goals and objectives are met.
Ensure client satisfaction and engagement success, including thorough documentation of client meetings, deliverables, and outcomes.
Develop and support procedures and tools to streamline the operations of SCRIs consulting service delivery and engagement logistics with the consulting team.
Apply research findings and best practices in youth development, education, out-of-school time, strategic planning, adult learning theory, and system-building/collective action to client engagements.
Foster connections and relationships between SCRI and peer organizations to keep abreast of field trends, recent and related research findings, and potential new client engagements.
Develop internal relationships across SCRI and BellXcel teams to identify opportunities for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and adaptation of BellXcel products and services to address the needs of SCRI clients.
Present research findings at conferences, meetings or online events.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Partner.
Director, Consulting Services will have a bachelors degree, masters preferred, in a related field and at least 7+ years experience in consulting services with demonstrated ability to supervise staff and manage complex client engagements in fast-based and dynamic virtual work environment.
Excellent communication skills, both orally and written with dynamite facilitation and presentation skills.
Effective project management and organizational skills with strong documentation of client engagements.
Proven track-record of successfully managing staff and teams to achieve goals and objectives.
Prior consulting engagement experience is a must.
Business development experience is a plus, including the ability to generate and close leads, secure follow-on client engagements, networking, etc.
Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills with a multi-disciplinary team that includes launching, implementing and leading client engagements.
Evidence of ability to develop tools, resources and services that drive increased access, quality or outcomes in youth program or school settings.
Commitment to equity as a cornerstone of BellXcels and SCRIs work.
Experience in youth development, education, and/or research and evaluation preferred.
Ability to work and manage client engagements across multiple time zones, as needed.
Potential for up to 30% travel when safe to do so, including the occasional weekend.
