Description

Application of paint, stain, varnish, wall coverings or drywall to maintain and protect interior or exterior surfaces and fixtures of buildings and other structures by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Receives instructions from supervisor regarding task priorities and scheduling.
  • Proper use of safety equipment, i.e. hand, eye, hearing protection and respirators for appropriate applications.
  • Safe use of scaffolding, ladders, safety harness or man lifts to perform tasks above ground level.
  • Safe use of hand or power tools to prepare surfaces for painting.
  • Makes necessary repairs to walls, moldings, trimmings or fixtures in preparation of work.
  • Properly prepares surfaces prior to painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint etc.
  • Performs and assists with other department general maintenance duties as directed by supervisor.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience as a painter
  • Excellent knowledge of painting material and how to select, mix and apply them
  • Solid knowledge of commercial and/or construction painting techniques
  • Aptitude in using appropriate tools (brushes, caulking guns etc.)
  • Manual dexterity with excellent balance to work on scaffolding, ladders etc.
  • Conscientious with great attention to detail

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and understand written instructions including but not limited to Safety Data Sheets.

Must be able to understand various Safety Data Sheets (SDS) associated with paints, stains, varnishes and cleaning solvents used while maintaining company safe workplace practices.

  

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

A Kentucky Horse Racing Authority License and valid Kentucky Drivers License is required.
