Description

This is an on-call position. Hours and available shifts are based on hotel needs.

SUMMARY: Mixes and serves alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks to patrons of bar by performing the following duties. This position is often required to supervise the duties of cocktail server and/ or bar back.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Takes orders from customer or servers both in the bar area and restaurant
  • Mixes ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters to prepare cocktails and other drinks
  • Collects used dishes from bar top
  • Serves wine and draught or bottled beer
  • Collects payment for drink and food orders
  • Arranges bottles and glasses to make attractive display
  • Slices and pits fruit for garnishing drinks
  • Requests proper identification of bar patrons
  • Wait tables in pool, lounge or other bar areas when in absence of cocktail server
  • Bartender must maintain the bar with safe and pleasant environment for guests
  • Be responsible for the wellbeing of all customers regarding alcohol consumption and over serving
  • Support safe work habits and contribute to a safe working environment at all times
  • Follow directions, get along with co-workers and supervisors, treat co-workers, supervisors and guests with respect and courtesy, contributes to a positive and rewarding team environment and refrains from abusive, insubordinate and/or violent behavior
  • Perform other related duties as requested by the supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Listed below are the qualifications that represent the knowledge, skills, and/or ability to perform this job successfully:

  • Must provide prompt and cordial service to all guests
  • Working knowledge of, or the ability to learn, point-of-sale computer systems
  • Must be reliable, responsible and able to work well under pressure
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions
  • Apply critical thinking to solve problems in standardized situations
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must meet legal age requirements for the position

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • One to two years related experience
  • Resort and/or hospitality experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equal to a GED

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  

  • Must speak and communicate in English
  • Must be able to clearly communicate with guests, management and coworkers

CERTIFICATES & LICENSES:

  • Must have Food Handler Certificate
  • TIPs certification preferred, but not required
  • Must provide valid document(s) to work in the US
  • Valid California Driver License is required (for specific positions)
