Job Description

The Foster and Adoption Care Coordinator provides leadership, strategy, and care for our families who are fostering or who have adopted children into their homes. This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position scheduled for 10 hours per week that can expand to 20 hours based on responsibilities for the quarterly new foster family training weekends. This position reports to the Care Director.

  • Provide care and support for Oaks Church families who are fostering or who have adopted children into their homes through regular check-ins and building relationships.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase involvement in foster care at The Oaks
  • Document orphan care related contacts and services in Fellowship One
  • Oversee and ensure Care Team oversight of the Foster Parent Training weekends
  • Recruit and equip leaders and volunteers to run various ministries supporting foster families, providing administrative support and team-wide communication for the following ministries:
    • Take-a-Meal Team
    • Respite Team (“4-Hour-Family”)
    • Online Support Community (Facebook group)
    • Foster Parent Support Group
  • Facilitate the resourcing of gift cards to families with new foster placements 
  • Provide leadership and direction to Orphan Sunday and ongoing all church communications pertaining to orphan/foster ministry
  • Manage relationships with an orphan/foster care focus including relationships with:
    • Cherished Impressions (our approved licensing partner)
    • Child Protective Services (CPS)
    • The various agencies that we support
    • Other local church-based orphan/foster ministries

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
  • At least two years of related experience are required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them appropriately.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at one time.
