Position Overview

Metalpha Production Technicians manufacture steel cord to our customers specification by operating industrial machinery. Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a satisfactory attendance record
  • Perform job duties in a safe manner to prevent accidents and injury to self and others, and to prevent damage to equipment, products, facility, and the environment
  • Actively participates in team problem solving and 3S activities
  • Prepares documentation to record production quantities and other relevant information
  • Uses hand tools, including wire cutters, pliers, and other tools necessary to successfully perform the job
  • Maintains equipment, machinery, work area and tools in a clean and orderly fashion
  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the performance of assigned duties
  • Use of Personal Protective equipment (Metatarsal Steel shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves) is required while in all production areas
  • Ability to use critical thinking, good judgement, and prioritization to complete daily tasks
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend work instructions and other pertinent documents
  • Demonstrated perseverance and dedication
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear
  • On occasion, required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

Education and/or Experience:

 High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Language Skills:

 Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

Mathmatical Skills:

 Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

 Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
