OneEighty is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to helping people. We provide comprehensive addiction, domestic violence, mental health and behavioral health services, and operate multiple care facilities throughout our community. Were still growing, integrating with primary care services and increasing access to care for all those who need it.

We are seeking to hire a full time, Victim Advocate & Outreach Specialist who provides advocacy to victims of intimate partner violence, domestic violence, sexual assault/abuse, human trafficking or similar crimes; and conducts outreach in order to bring awareness and improve the response to victims, especially those in underserved communities.

Essential Tasks, Duties, Responsibilities:

Provides advocacy in the legal system and support in accessing community resources to those who may be victims of intimate partner violence domestic violence, sexual assault/abuse, human trafficking, or similar crimes through the following:

  • Assisting clients in municipal, common pleas and domestic relations courts.
  • Providing information on marital and parenting rights.
  • Educating clients on civil vs. criminal activities.
  • Assisting clients in obtaining Civil Protection Orders/Temporary Protection Orders and Restraining Orders.
  • Working in conjunction with law enforcement to contact and assist survivors of domestic violence who are referred to OneEighty by law enforcement reports.
  • Preparing survivors for participation and testimony in criminal and domestic relations court.
  • Attending hearings and supporting person throughout the court procedure.
  • Educating survivors about Victims Compensation and the Vine System as appropriate.
  • Serving as advocate on the survivors behalf for proper treatment while filing police reports, during investigations and other necessary interviews within the legal system.
  • Educating survivors about their options concerning shelter stay, divorce, and choices within the criminal/domestic justice system.
  • Providing information, referral, and advocacy to other community agencies as necessary. Work conjointly with these agencies for the best interests of the survivor.
  • Being a part of a Civil Standby, if necessary.
  • Keeping abreast of legislative issues. Educate peers and other professional regarding these issues.
  • Assisting the survivor, as well as any family members or significant others in the recovery process by making referrals to individual/group/family treatment utilizing principles consistent with agency philosophy.
  • Identifying and providing outreach to underserved populations who have been victimized by intimate partner violence, domestic violence, sexual assault/abuse, human trafficking or similar crimes including but not limited to, children and adolescents, persons of color, persons with Limited English-Speaking Abilities, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, persons with disabilities, men, older adults, Amish/Mennonite, and LGBTQ.

Maintains a professional demeanor and adheres to ethical, moral, legal, and clinical practice standards established by professional organizations and governing entities. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Maintaining strict confidentiality of client issues and OneEighty matters as defined by personnel policies, professional ethics, and applicable laws.
  • Maintaining a professional relationship with client and maintain appropriate boundaries.
  • Maintaining records in accordance with standards established by professional organizations and national organizations providing certification.
  • Practicing within areas of competency.
  • Complies with grant expectations and assurances.

Advances a positive and professional image of OneEighty in the community and creates opportunities to educate the community concerning domestic violence, sexual assault/abuse, human trafficking, or similar crimes. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Maintaining an active role in the Domestic Violence Coalition.
  • Being an active member of the SART and coordinating hospital advocacy.
  • Providing orientation, training, consultation, and technical support to community groups.
  • Developing presentations to be given to various community groups and acts as a liaison with these groups.
  • Educating the professional community regarding all aspects of domestic violence.

Promotes a collaborative approach to service delivery and a positive working environment at OneEighty. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Demonstrating a willingness to collaborate with colleagues to improve services and deliver optimal care for all clients.
  • Attending workshops and professional meetings to continuously develop professional skills as determined by the supervisor.
  • Attending staff meetings and trainings as requested.

Other duties as assigned by the Victim Services Manager, Clinical Director or Executive Director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related field. Knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault preferred. License in social work preferred.
  • Must have a valid Ohio Driver License and maintain a driving record that allows the individual to be insurable with the insurance company providing OneEightys vehicle insurance. Local travel may be required.
  • May not currently receive clinical services at OneEighty.
  • If in recovery must have two years of continuous sobriety.
  • Must be certified in CPR and First Aid.
  • Must be trained in administering Narcan.
  • Ability to use a computer, proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and manage crises.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Excellent listening skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of client issues and agency matters as defined by professional ethics and applicable laws.

Work Schedule and Benefits: Full-time, Exempt. Schedule is flexible and determined by organization needs. Some evening hours may be required. Benefits as defined by the Board of Trustees and outlined in the Personnel Policy Manual.

Pay Range: Commensurate with education, certification and experience.
