The Vice President of Professional Learning oversees the many models of professional development delivered by Teacher Created Materials, ensuring the quality of the service provided and developing a strong team.  This key position will study and report on market trends, provide support and assistance around key sales and marketing initiatives, and manage large-scale product implementations.  The Vice President will also develop and report on key metrics within the department with an eye on continuous improvement.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver quality professional development to educators.
  • Provide pedagogical support for the sales team and assist in managing key implementations.
  • Actively recruit and onboard consultants and experts.
  • Keep abreast of key research and trends in education and share information with key stakeholders.
  • Work with sales and marketing to manage product positioning and assist in new product launches, including making effective and engaging presentations on behalf of the company.
  • Establish key metrics for professional development and make recommendations for new services to help grow the company.
  • Study competitors and share information learned with key stakeholders.
  • Consistently demonstrate effective leadership and mentoring skills to build capacity of staff.
  • Develop annual budget and maintain oversight over costs to achieve specific profitability goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of increasing responsibility in education or educational publishing.
  • Master’s degree in education or related field
  • K-12 classroom teaching experience required; school district level experience preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of the educational market, competitors, sales channels, and end user needs
  • Superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities in both short-term and long-term goals
  • Demonstrated research, strategic decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Strong people management and team leadership skills; hiring and firing responsibility.
  • Experience with development and adherence to a budget.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite.


Physical Requirements:

  • Sit for extended periods of time; including at a computer.
  • Occasional lifting up to 15 lbs.
  • Repetitive hand and wrist movements for frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse.
  • 50% travel required.


Work Conditions: General office environment with travel required.
