Position Summary

This Brazer will help us build electric heat pump units with the use of drawings, schematics, and technical data and using a gas fueled welding gun and an induction welding methods to braze copper and dissimilar metals.
Role & Responsibilities

Duties / Responsibilities:

• Assemble heat pumps according to drawings, schematics, and technical data
• Troubleshoot design and assembly issues;
• Interact with members of other departments to improve processes and designs
• Operate brazing equipment
• Set up and maintain brazing machines
• Follow safety protocols when working with hazardous materials
• Test and inspect brazed products
• Ensure products meet quality standards
• Cut and Bend pipe within required specifications
• Align and clamp workpieces together, using rules, squares, or hand tools, or position items in fixtures, jigs, or vises.
• Clean workpieces to remove dirt or excess acid, using chemical solutions, files, wire brushes, or grinders.
• Melt and apply solder along adjoining edges of workpieces to solder joints, using soldering irons, gas torches, or electric-ultrasonic equipment.
• Clean joints of workpieces with wire brushes or by dipping them into cleaning solutions.
• Grind, cut, buff, or bend edges of workpieces to be joined to ensure snug fit, using power grinders and hand tools.
• Examine seams for defects and rework defective joints or broken parts.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Education Requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent
•  Experience Requirement:  3-5 years specifically in copper brazing, dissimilar metals, and preferably some exposure to induction brazing.
• Accurately interpret schematics and blueprints
• Accurately read a tape measure
• Basic assembly
• Braze/solder copper efficiently without leaks that can withstand high pressure.
•  Cut and Bend pipe within required specifications
• Troubleshoot assembly issues
• Basic knowledge of refrigeration systems
• Must be legally able to work in the United States
• Must have a positive attitude and foster a continuous improvement environment
• Excellent problem solving skills and analytical thinking

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a shop or warehouse environment.  Conditions include proximity to moving mechanical parts, exposure to noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection, exposure to vibration through the use of tools and equipment.  Required to wear personal protective equipment. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Standing for long hours; mechanical ability; manual dexterity.

• Ability to move around the facility, climbing stairs as necessary, bend down and reach up

• Ability to handle and lift objects weighing up to 25 lbs. alone; ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. in a two person lift
