Summary

Drives company-owned truck to transport containers to and from the harbor; keeps truck clean and well maintained; complies with all DOT and CHP regulations; maintains electronic log according to applicable regulations; turns in paperwork, complete and on time; performs pre-and post-trip inspections; maintains communications with Dispatch as needed and/or requested.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Transports full and empty containers to and from predetermined destinations (Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach; various customer sites).

Keeping truck clean and well maintained.

Complying with all DOT, CHP, and other applicable governing agency regulations.

Timely and accurate electronic transmission of data via Disc Mobil, GeoTab, GeoStamp, or any other TMS system Pacifica Trucks utilizes.
 

Adhering to Safety and Company policies.

Maintains truck log according to state and federal regulations.

Turning in paperwork on time.

Maintains contact with Dispatch to receive delivery instructions.

Courteous with customers.

Inspects truck equipment and supplies including but not limited to tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.

Meet designated KPIs weekly, monthly, and quarterly according to company policies

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience Two or more years related driving experience with a Class A driver's license; at least one-year port driving experience.

Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
