Do what you love and love what you do! We are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Benefits Specialist to join our growing organization.

The Sr. Benefits Specialist will be the benefits lead for employees and teachers benefits. The Sr. Benefits Specialist will participate as a member of the HR team and contribute to all aspects of ensuring Participate Learning is a great place to work, with a focus on benefit offerings, programs, communication, vendor management and technology integration. This position reports to the Director, HR, as part of a small HR team doing big things!

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the benefit vendor relationships and behind the scenes service issues for corporate employees and 1000+ international teachers enrolled in Participate Learning benefits, providing problem solving and resolution. 

  • Main point of contact for vendors for benefit broker, medical, dental, vision, legal, 401k, health advocacy and flexible spending. 

  • Manage COBRA coverage with third party COBRA administrator. 

  • Work with employees, supervisors and insurance carriers on disability claims. 

  • Respond to escalated inquiries from employees and teachers on benefit offerings with a focus on more complex situations and troubleshooting issues. 

  • Effectively communicate with employees, teachers, third party vendors, managers, supervisors, Legal and HR related to benefit inquiries.

  • Generate, reconcile and provide standard and ad-hoc reports for compliance, billing, wellness and general benefit decision making.

  • Review, reconcile and process all benefit provider systems with HRIS, SalesForce and invoices. 

  • Submit reconciled invoices to Finance for payment (medical, dental, vision, legal, 401k, health advocacy, flexible spending and COBRA). 

  • 401(k) plan administration, working with investment provider and 401(k) committee. 

  • Proactively review and make recommendations for process improvements for benefit offerings, benefits administration and communications. 

  • Contribute to the daily operations of the HR department and support other projects as assigned.

  • Monthly teacher bank drafts, collection follow ups and problem solving. 

  • Manage and promote company perks (mobile phone stipend, credit union, wellness, etc.).  

  • Annual ACA reporting for 1000+ subscribers: preparations, review, and submission. 

  • Weekly funding for medical ASO plan. 


What We’re Looking For

  • BS degree preferred;  work experience in HR, finance or benefits 

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems

  • Broad experience in benefits administration 

  • Experience with HRIS file feeds, reporting and ACA reporting

  • Excellent listening, verbal communications, recordkeeping and time-management skills.

  • Demonstrated customer focus and teamwork/collaboration competencies

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and ability to learn and use Google Suite
