Everything we do is created by teachers for teachers and students to make teaching more effective and learning more fun. The Content Director will strategically direct content development for a content area(s) and/or business channel(s) to promote business growth within those areas and channels.


Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Uses up-to-date knowledge of sales trends, digital trends, educational trends and best practices, standards, competitors, and end user needs to propose, produce, and market products that achieve market success and promote business growth.
  • Cultivates meaningful relationships with the sales team, customers, classroom teachers, consultants, academics, nonprofits, business partners, etc. that positively impact the quality and market success of content development.
  • Upholds the voice for all products within the defined content area(s) and/or sales channel(s) and proactively collaborates with Marketing and Sales to strategically manage product messages. 
  • Effectively manages an annual budget and project budgets for the highest ROI and potential for business growth. 
  • Makes effective and engaging presentations on behalf of the company to the sales team, customers, etc. to build knowledge and relationships, and promote business growth.
  • Consistently demonstrates effective leadership and mentoring skills to build capacity of staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Expertise in literacy (administrator/specialist role, reading credential, professional development training experience, etc.)
  • Master’s degree in education and Teaching Credential
  • K-12 classroom teaching experience
  • Content area expertise and broad pedagogical knowledge
  • Deep knowledge of the educational market, competitors, sales channels, and end user needs
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities in both short-term and long-term goals
  • Demonstrated research, strategic decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • 3+ years of editorial experience in publishing
  • Demonstrated project management skills (experience with MS Project a plus)
  • Strong people management and team leadership skills
  • Proficient in MS Office suite


Physical Requirements:

  • Sit for extended periods of time; including at a computer.
  • Occasional lifting up to 15 lbs.
  • Repetitive hand and wrist movements for frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Some travel required.

Work Conditions: General office environment with some travel required.
