The Norton Museum of Art is seeking a Development Officer for Special Events to support the Special Events Program, assisting with the strategizing, planning and stewardship for internal events - the major Museum fundraisers, VIP events, Trustee dinners/lunches, Chairmans Circle events, Curatorial Friends Groups events and Directors Office special projects. This position will work closely with the Event Services team to plan the internal events. The Development Associate for Special Events will report directly to the Director of Special Events, and work closely with Development team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the strategizing, planning and stewardship for major Museum fundraisers (including the annual Gala), VIP events, Trustee dinners/lunches, Chairmans Circle events, Curatorial Friends Groups events, Directors Office special projects, and any other internal event as assigned
- Work with the Director of Special Events on cross-departmental event schedules and collaboration for annual schedule planning and review
- Collaborate with the Director of Special Events on revenue and expenses for specific events, with a focus on fundraising goals (individual support, corporate sponsorship, ticket sales, invoices, etc.), and over see that gifts are acknowledged appropriately and in a timely manner
- Manage the mailing lists and mailings, inclusive of digital and physical invitations, for VIP events, Chairmans Circle events, Curatorial Friends Groups events, and Directors Office special projects
- Support the Director of Special Events on sponsorship solicitations and correspondence for the major Museum fundraisers
- Work closely with the Event Manager in updating pertinent details for the event coordination (guest count, timing changes, décor elements, etc.)
- Write and review copy for printed/marketing materials (save the date, invitations, programs, event signage, press releases, ads, etc.), ensuring accuracy and conformity to Museum branding guidelines
- Work with the Director of Special Events on tracking and reporting, as needed
- Collaborate with the Director of Special Events in determining post-event cultivation follow-up
- Work synergistically with all departments of the Museum to create a seamless event experience for event attendees, staff, and Museums visitors
- Assist with maintenance of constituent records in the Museums database for accuracy
- General administrative tasks, including answering phones, managing RSVP lists and email accounts
- Handle confidential information appropriately
- Attend evening and weekend events/fundraising activities and assist as needed
