Position Summary:

In this role you will report to the Chief Financial Officer, with responsibility for supervising a team of 5.  The ideal candidate is a proactive, hands-on, solid communicator that brings experience and leadership to a team experiencing great growth and change.  As the company is migrating to Netsuite, preference will be given to candidates experienced in Netsuite and/or system migrations.

 Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Examination of work-flow/process routing to improve efficiency, especially as Company adopts new ERP system
  • Ensure all ledger and sub-ledger accounts, as well as bank accounts, are reconciled on a timely basis
  • Ensure all financial information generated by the company is in compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
  • Together with CFO, assess impact of new lease accounting regulations
  • Oversee monthly close process, ensuring timely issuance of financial packages
  • Work with CFO to forecast cash, line of credit position, and compliance with bank covenants
  • Create a highly efficient and productive team. At a minimum, this will include:
    • Providing high energy leadership to drive team to anticipate problems and pro-actively seek solutions
    • Assessing the skills and abilities of each staff member, and developing quarterly and annual goals and pathways for growth
    • Creating a staff plan that keeps pace with the growth of the organization
  • Drive spending controls throughout the organization - ensure all spending is authorized and in the best interest of the company 
  • Handle responsibilities for tax planning and compliance with all federal, state and local corporate, payroll, sales/use and other applicable taxes
  • Coordinate financial and operational audits, review reports of audit findings with management and ensure proper corrective actions. Work with outside CPA and other outside advisors on all audit related matters.



Minimum Qualifications:


Education and Credentials: Bachelor degree in accounting, finance or business. CPA required.  Experience in public accounting a strong plus. 

Experience: 10+ years of responsibility as Controller. Successful track record leading a team of 3-6 members.  Experience in manufacturing or publishing environments preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sit for extended periods of time; including at a computer.
  • Occasional lifting up to 10 lbs.
  • Repetitive hand and wrist movements for frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse.
