Description

Summary
DWC seeks a full time Sr. Clinical Social Worker to provide supervision and program development for Housing programs within Downtown Womens Center. The Social Worker will provide clinical and case management supervision, with a strong focus on program development and quality assurance. This position reports directly to the Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) Manager and is part of the Housing Department.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Provide trauma informed, culturally responsive supervision to clinical and case management staff.
  2. Act as primary developer and lead for CalAIM Housing Navigation and Retention program.
  3. Act as agency expert in Medi-cal documentation and billing.
  4. Build documentation training program to assure ability to provide Medi-cal billing.
  5. Provide Quality Assurance support for all programs in partnership with the Measurement and Evaluation Supervisor.
  6. Review and provide feedback on notes, assessments, and service plans created by supervisees.
  7. Conduct screenings, psychosocial, and diagnostic assessments, as needed.
  8. Assist staff with clinical consultation, care coordination and coaching around clinical interventions and de-escalation techniques as needed
  9. Comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations around confidentiality
  10. Maintain accurate and timely records, including intake paperwork, notes, and documentation of services provided to each participant and supervisee.
  11. Attend partner and funder meetings as needed to develop and maintain CalAIM programming.
  12. Create and provide documentation training to Program staff.
  13. Provide regular and ad hoc written reports as assigned.
  14. Understand the unique needs of Permanent Supportive Housing residents and women in Skid Row.
  15. Lead mental health consultation groups in the Housing Department, including but not limited to Housing Justice.
  16. Hold direct service supervisees to deadlines on weekly, monthly and as needed basis.
  17. Participate in individual and group supervision meetings and multidisciplinary team meetings .
  18. Conduct trainings and presentations internally and externally.
  19. Serve as an ambassador for DWC.
  20. Other duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization.

Supervisory Responsibility
This role provides mental health consultation and supervises direct service staff.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment, and provides home visitation, as needed. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday- Friday 8:30 AM- 5:00 PM; with flexibility to work during non-scheduled days and evenings when necessary.

Travel
Travel within Los Angeles County for local meetings and provision of field-based services. Occasional transportation of clients may occur.

Remote

This position is primarily field based but may work remotely when approved by a supervisor.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience 

  1. Master’s degree in social work or related field required
  2. 5yrs social work experience required
  3. Licensure preferred
  4. Minimum 1 year working with unhoused populations preferred
  5. Minimum 1 year providing field-based services preferred

Required Knowledge/Skills/Position Qualifications

  1. Familiarity with supportive housing model and evidence-based practices including Critical Time Intervention, preferred
  2. Certifications in EMDR, Seeking Safety, CPT, Narrative Therapy, or other trauma and resiliency informed approaches, preferred
  3. Knowledge and training in EBPs (i.e. Seeking Safety, Trauma Informed Care, culturally responsive services) preferred
  4. Knowledge and experience with DSM V diagnosis preferred
  5. Excellent active listening and crisis intervention skills with ability to exercise and model good judgment
  6. Strong written and oral communication skills; proven ability to communicate with diverse audiences
  7. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, including proficiency in balancing direct service responsibilities and record-keeping

  12. Current valid California state driver’s license, insurance, and vehicle with good driving record

  14. Must be a CA resident and live at least 75 miles from the office and must be available for in-person meetings at the DWC offices.
  15. Must provide documentation of a negative COVID-19 test result from the last seven days, on first day of hire.
  16. Must provide documentation of a negative TB test result within the last twelve months, on first day of hire.
  17. You will be required to have received at least the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination to start employment with DWC, and second dose must be received within 30 days from the first day of hire.

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  1. Oral and written fluency in Spanish and English a plus but not required
  2. Lived experience of homelessness a plus but not required
