Description

Position Summary:

The Senior Payroll Specialist will perform all activities necessary to process payroll, including but not limited to: maintaining related records, processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments, preparing accounting transactions and documents, documenting and updating procedures, and preparing special reports for management.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Produce accurate and on time paychecks, monthly bonus and commission payments, annual bonus payments, and manual checks for terminations and special situations
  • Audit and enter adjustments to hourly staff time sheets
  • Process employee tax levies and garnishments
  • Prepare reports to support the processing and review of payroll
  • Provide information and audit schedules when needed for internal and external audits, including annual workers compensation and 401k audits
  • Partner with outside payroll company to manage multi-state localities and resolve tax-related issues
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues and concerns
  • Partner with management to ensure employee timekeeping compliance is accurate and approvals are timely
  • Report instances and patterns of payroll non-compliance to management
  • Advise management on new payroll compliance requirements and trends
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll deductions and accrual programs
  • Coordinate with outside payroll vendor to move TCM onto a bi-weekly payroll cycle effective 1/1/2020
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience
  • Experience using Paycom or similar payroll software
  • Knowledge and experience with commissions-based pay
  • Advanced computer skills including Excel required
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communications skills
  • The ability to demonstrate professionalism, discretion, sensitivity and confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate problem solving skills, dependability, adaptability, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with federal and state wage and hour laws and regulations
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • CPP designation is a plus but not required

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Sit for extended periods of time; including at a computer
  • Occasional lifting up to 15 lbs
  • Repetitive hand and wrist movements for frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse

Work Conditions:

General office environment.
