CNA

This is non-technical work involving the routine care of patients and the performance of nursing services for patients that are not required to be performed by a Licensed Practical or Registered Professional Nurse. Work is subject to general and direct supervision concerned with actual care of the patient, which are performed under direct supervision of the LPN in charge of the patient and the RN in charge of the unit. 

Possess the ability to understand and carry out routine non-technical, oral and written directives relative to care of patients; physical strength and mental alertness, willingness to cooperate and to carefully follow a prescribed routine, discretion, tact, good judgement, ability to get along well with others and to secure cooperation of patients, physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Either: Successful completion of a state approved residential health care facility nurses aide training program;

Or:       Successful completion of two full semesters in a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse program; 

Or:       Successful completion of 90 contact hours of medical surgical clinical training; 

And;     Successful completion of both the clinical skills competency examination and the written or oral competency examination leading to NYS Certification as                 a Nurse Assistant.
