Teacher Resources Associate

 The Teacher Resources Associate provides onboarding and continuing support for Participate Learning’s cultural exchange teachers. The Teacher Resources Associate is responsible for the successful arrival and orientation of all new international teachers, facilitating a smooth transition to their new environment, and for all related and ongoing logistical support for teachers in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.  

 

Teacher Onboarding Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Local Adviser program to match new teachers with existing teachers who provide  local support to incoming teachers. 

  • Supervise advisers to ensure new teachers have a smooth arrival in their respective districts and have their transitional needs met, such as accommodations, transportation, etc. 

  • Oversee travel process for new teachers to ensure timely arrivals.

  • Work as part of the Event team to plan & implement orientation sessions for all new teachers as well as other events throughout the year.

 

Teacher Support & Retention Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily customer service and support to 1000+ U.S. based international teachers, through online chats, phone & email, ensuring timely and thorough responses.

  • Use problem-solving skills as well as knowledge of cultural adjustment, cross-cultural communications, and the U.S. education system to identify issues affecting international educators.

  • Use active listening, reasoning and judgment skills in communicating with educators and apply Participate policies, regulations, and guidelines as appropriate.

  • Provide thorough follow-up on educator matters to ensure that all affected parties are informed of issues and resolutions. 

  • Use marketing automation to deliver effective, professional communications.

  • Work as part of the Teacher Resource team to implement key educator processes such as renewals, visa extensions, surveys, etc.

  • Regular use Participate Learning’s online platform to engage international teachers in online collaboration, chats, resources, program materials, and  professional development.

  • Provide excellent customer service, support and resources that ensure a positive experience for international teachers throughout their program.

 Key Knowledge, Skill, Ability and Education Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s Degree  (Education, Communications, Business or International Studies or related field) or equivalent experience and education

  • Strong written and oral communications skills, including public speaking

  • Experience managing complex projects from initial stages through implementation

  • Experience living abroad and/or second language preferred (Spanish or Mandarin)

  • Experience in customer service

  • Analytical and pragmatic problem solving skills, applying good discretion and judgement

  • Cultural awareness 

  • Attention to detail in own work and review of other's’ work

  • Professional and positive attitude 

  • Strong organizational skills in routine as well as time-sensitive situations, ability to prioritize, multi-task, and follow through.

  • Quickly learn and adapt to new technology (Salesforce, gmail, google docs, online chats, social media, MS Office, or similar) 

  • Ability to work weekends and/or evenings as required.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment 

  • Skill to thoroughly review own work and the work of others in order to identify and correct errors.
