ABOUT THE POSITION:

The position is as a Direct Service Aide with opportunities to work in our crisis services as well. These opportunities in crisis service will provide additional pay per hour. This program is growing and we are so thrilled about it! Come join us and contribute to our exciting growth.

OUR DIRECT SERVICE AIDES ACHIEVE SUCCESS BY:

  • Guiding clients in developing life skills
  • Providing the client with appropriate and effective services such as support and training programs
  • Serving each client in the least restrictive environment
  • Increasing the independence of all clients served
  • Assisting each person with improving his/her quality of life
  • Participating in client evaluations through task analysis and other requested assessment devices
  • Providing direct service as needed and required
  • Performing all duties of a direct service provider as assigned.

ABOUT OUR CRISIS SERVICES: 

  • Hours worked in crisis services will provide an additional $2 per hour of pay!
  • These services are for clients who are in need of emergency support; this can be behavioral or situational
  • Hours are not guaranteed, but opportunities are fairly constant
  • These services include de-escalation and therapeutic support
  • Changes in scheduling may be impromptu (flexibility is necessary)
  • This is ideal for someone with previous experience in direct care services

Qualifications

SKILLS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older with a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must successfully complete a Red Cross approved First Aid and CPR class within 45 days of the date of hire OR already possess a Red Cross approved First-Aid certificate.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Some of our clients are physically impaired and require assistance into and out of wheelchairs and other assistive devices. The Direct Service Aide must be able to perform such tasks on an urgent or emergency basis. Many of the jobs/activities in which our clients engage require physical exertion on the part of the Community Catalysts of California staff person (i.e., walking (75% of workday), climbing stairs (10% workday but on a frequent basis), lifting (10% of workday but on a frequent basis), stretching, bending, etc.). A Direct Service Aide must have the ability to talk, hear, and see in order to assist the client in his/her quest for independence.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • The Direct Service Aide must be capable of making on-site visits to clients, agencies and employers. Often these on-site visits are at a distance from the office and no regular means of public transportation exists. Overnight travel is rare, but may be required for training and as part of a client's program. A Direct Service Aide may transport a client as part of his/her job duties. 
  • Community Catalysts of California does not furnish transportation or vehicles for its employees however, mileage is reimbursed. A reliable means of transportation, valid California license and insurance is required.
  • He/she must successfully pass a screening for illicit drug use prior to employment.
  • He/she must possess a record clear from past felonious criminal activity and submit to a Department of Justice criminal activity background check.
  • CCC’s client case management platform requires employees to utilize a mobile smart device(i.e. cell phone/tablet) with reliable internet connectivity and data to complete certain essential job tasks. This position requires the employee to have a mobile smart device available to perform certain required essential functions, for which reasonable reimbursement is provided to the employee.
