GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Loan Officer, with an emphasis on Ag Lending, is responsible for discussing customer needs, recommending the best loan products, helping customers put together a complete loan package and working with the underwriting team throughout the loan process.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Interviews loan applicants to determine their needs and provide recommendation for the right credit products to help meet their goals.
  • Maintain an active knowledge base of organization’s credit products and qualification requirements for applicants.
  • Manage loan portfolio in accordance with credit policy including but not limited to renewals, modifications, updated credit analysis, and portfolio monitoring.
  • Utilize professional judgement to determine which potential borrowers represent good risk opportunities for the organization.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with customers, bank staff, local professionals, centers of influence, and community organizations.
  • Participate in community and professional organizations and events.
  • Uses experience and sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Identify and escalate transactions or information related to suspicious activity to the BSA department. Perform duties according to established bank policies and procedures to comply with bank controls. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Excellent communications and customer service skills
  2. Strong attention to detail and a mind for numbers
  3. Knowledge of bank regulations

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in finance or Ag business
  2. 3+ years’ experience in banking preferred
