The Opportunity 

Bookshare seeks an individual to join our digital content and collection development team. This dynamic and mission-driven group is responsible for the processes that make digital books in accessible formats available to Bookshare members around the country and around the world – books that would otherwise be unreadable for them.

A senior member of the Digital Content and Collection Development team, this role serves as a primary support to publishers, partner libraries, and members working and collaborating across the organization to resolving technical issues and continually improve service and processes.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Onboard and maintain relationships with partner publishers;

  • Monitor publisher eBook and audiobook donation feeds and publisher activity; troubleshoot problems as they arise;

  • Maintain relationship with National Instructional Materials Access Center (NIMAC) and other similar partners;

  • Act as primary point of contact and training resource for international partner libraries, troubleshooting and escalating technical issues as they arise;

  • Support the fulfillment of book requests for students and members;

  • Work collaboratively with product manager, engineers, and other Benetech staff;

  • Using Salesforce and other data and reporting tools, support supervisor by reporting on key metrics for required grant reporting, and other day-to-day monitoring; and

  • Additional collection development support and backup duties.

Qualifications and Core Competencies

  • Required:

    • Bachelor’s/Associate’s or five years of library, paraprofessional or administrative experience;

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

    • Experience with detailed record keeping and high standards of accuracy in data entry, reporting, and analysis; and

    • Demonstrated competence with office software tools such as Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Jira, Slack, or Trello.

  • Preferred:

    • Client-facing account management experience; experience working with publishers;

    • Knowledge of accessibility standards;

    • Experience with digital Braille;

    • Experience with digital files and/or ONIX; and

    • Experience with basic HTML, rudimentary Python, and APIs.

Travel Obligations

Travel for this position may be up to 10%, with the possibility to expand according to level of interest and consistent with Benetech’s Travel Policy due to COVID.
