Organizational Duties:

This staff member will perform a variety of services for patients and clinical staff. These services include reception, communication, clerical duties, and coordination of non-clinical tasks. The Clinical Admin. Support staff will manage phone messages for clinical staff and give information and direction as defined by team nurses. They must have good communication skills as their duties include answering the telephone, providing information to doctors, nurses, and other health professionals, answering requests and taking and delivering messages, the ability to write and communicate effectively required. Additionally, strong organizational skills are required; ability to set goals and plan, ability to juggle priorities and manage time

This individual will utilize several computer systems (EPIC, Sorian) to order and coordinate patient services. They need a working knowledge of medical terminology, as they are responsible for communicating and interacting with providers and other team members surrounding patient care. The Clinical Admin support staff must be responsible, mature, dependable, and able to work with a variety of different people in a very busy area of the community health center.

Responsibilities and Performance Standards:

  • Performs and supports all duties of Patient Access I & II, including insurance verification, scheduling, check-in and check-out
  • Patient Care Coordination
  • Act as a coordinator in clinical area with primary duties in answering telephone calls, triaging phone calls for team nurses, picking up and accurately dispersing messages through the OCHIN/EPIC system
  • Working directly with clinical team to identify needed services and assist in any special duties as assigned by RN team leader
  • Evaluate barriers to patients care and connecting patient to community service organizations
  • Assistance with patient transportation if necessary
  • Bridge cultural beliefs and language issues between providers and patient
  • Participate with team in huddles, team meetings and POD meetings
  • Arrange for translation services or accompany patients to referral sites, as needed
  • Greet clients and assist them with necessary paperwork
  • Service clients in a timely, supportive manner
  • Ability to work well within patient teams to facilitate patient care and positive health outcomes

Qualifications

Experience/Education: High school diploma and a minimum of 2 years experience in medical office management (or equivalent) environment. Strong organizational skills are required; ability to set goals and plan, ability to juggle priorities and manage time. Ability to write and communicate effectively is required, computer literacy is required.
