JOB PURPOSE: 

Provides support to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment and facilities are met. Provides support related to the Maintenance Department to sustain daily operations of the Department. Will report to the Molding Manager and upon hire will enroll in the Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship program through AJAC. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform assigned Maintenance processes and operations.
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, and doing preventative maintenance actions.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery as required.
  • Maintain and repair specialized equipment and machinery located in the plastics and metal facilities.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance and ensure all machinery is at working standard.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facilities to detect and resolve problems.
  • Plan and manage all assigned repair and installation activities.
  • Working within safety policies.
  • Document and update maintenance logs.
  • Enroll and complete the Industrial Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Basic maintenance and repair of equipment and machines as assigned.
  • Perform general cleaning, care of and upkeep of facilities and grounds, including basic landscaping and snow removal. 
  • Test and treat water supply, as directed.
  • Support production based KPI measurements.
  • Research and recommend upgrades to workspaces, equipment, technology.

AUTHORITY:

  • The Maintenance Technician I - Apprentice will communicate all potential safety risks to the Molding Manager who has the authority to shut down and lock out equipment that he/she determines a potential safety risk.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Effective communication:
    • Able to read and write English.
    • Able to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Creative Thinking.
  • Team oriented and Self-starter.
  • Exceptional organization and interpersonal skills.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in maintenance
  • Basic understanding of plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems and tools.
  • Knowledge of facilities, machines, and equipment.
  • Previous experience in aerospace manufacturing preferred.
  • Previous graduate, currently enrolled, or as a condition of employment, the Maintenance Technician I - Apprentice will enroll and complete the Industrial Maintenance Technician apprenticeship.
