Role & Responsibilities

Roles: Perform diverified manual and mechanical duties to set up and operator paper sheeting machinery.

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment for all employees and customers complying with organizational and OSHA safety standards, procedures, and regulations. Adhere to all company safety guidelines including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Report defective and/or unsafe conditions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Communicate with shift supervisor any outstanding manufacturing, packing or shipping issues.
  • Set up sheeting machinery.
    • Read & interpret job schedule and ensure proper paper stock is staged and set machine to proper specifications.
    • Install shafts and chucks onto rolls. Operate overhead hoist to laod roll onto unwind rack.
    • Ensure paper is properly webbed on machine. Make adjustments fo roll tram and lateral alighment. Set and/or adjust shaft breaks.
    • Set slitters as required to trim we to specification. Set sheet clip length by changing gears or entering data into automatic controller.
    • Adjust nip rolls, bow rolls, etc. as required.
    • Set feed speeds, adjust water sprayers as required, set static bars as needed to add or eliminate static charge to we. Obtain set up approval from Lead person/supervisor.
  • Operate sheeting machine.
    • Ensure jogger is clear of machinery and brin machinery up to optimum operating speed.
    • Monitor operations to ensure web is wrinkle free, has proper static charge, etc.
    • Ensure clips are running properly to jogging station.
    • Make any required adjustments to maintain proper operation. Take periodic product samples and check required specificiations.
    • Monitor unwind rack for web breaks, splices, print voids, etc. and make necessary adjustments.
  • Record roduction and producitivity data into Activity Input computer system.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines. Grease and/or oil as required, clear out paper dust, and other debrise.
  • Operator motorized fork truck to remove skids of sheeted product from jogging station and move to packing stations.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area.
  • It is the responsibility f all employees to ensure products produced by First Mate Printing & Converting, Inc. meets or exceeds the expections of the company and their customers.
  • The hygieneof the work stations must meet or exceed the Standards set in the Good Manufacturing Practices Manual.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Follow all safety rules and regulations, maintain current licenses for motorized equipment.
  • Safely operate all productions equipment as assigned
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with co-workers, supervisors, and company personnel in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Capable of reading and understanding written materials and manuals
  • Ability to follow direction, SOPs, and safety procedures.
  • Must be able to focus with attention to detail

Ability to organize and prioritize workflow

 

High School Diploma or Equivalent

1-2 years experience with data entry.

Work Environment

Typical production environment; walking or operating equipment near machines with moving mechanical parts. Exposure includes but is not limited to loud continuous noise, scent of materials, non-temperature-controlled areas, and moving equipment and machinery.

Physical Demands

  • Walking and/or standing on concrete floors for approx. 8 12 hours daily
  • Ability to physically move and lift various weights and to work around fast-moving machinery with quick response and/or reflexes
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds, periodic lifting up to 75 pounds
  • Walking, squatting, crouching, turning, twisting, stretching, climbing steps, grabbing, pulling, pushing or bending
  • Hearing acuity
  • Vision Ishiahara machine eye exam for perfect color
