Bennett Thrasher (“BT”) has an opening for a Director of Information Technology. Reporting directly to the CIO, the Director of Information Technology’s role is to provide leadership for developing and implementing technology initiatives that align with the overall strategic plan of Bennett Thrasher. Assisted by the IT Manager the Director of Information Technology directs the planning and implementation of enterprise systems to support the Firm’s commitment to its staff, its clients, and its communities.  This is a hands-on role and this individual is ultimately responsible for the daily operations of the Firm’s technology.


Primary responsibilities:

  • Ensure the primary infrastructure systems within the BT network (network devices, servers, workstations, SAN, VDI systems, backup systems, camera systems) are effectively maintained, and administered to ensure smooth reliable operations.
  • Promote and oversee strategic relationships between internal technology resources and external partners, such as vendors and industry associations
  • Recruit, manage, and mentor BT’s internal support team in accordance with the Firm’s personnel policies.
  • Support departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures to support the Firm’s long-term growth objectives.
  • Track and control the technology annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with BT Stakeholders to identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Remain current with trends and issues in both the technology and the accounting industry.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Technology/Engineering fields with 10 years of experience in an IT infrastructure/management role.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Active Directory administration, as it relates to support of group policies and login scripts.
  • Strong demonstrable fundamental technical knowledge of networks, systems, and general IT systems (O365, phone systems, etc).
  • Experience with virtual/remote desktop & application platforms and server transitions to cloud.
  • Experience with several of the following technical areas: Server hardware, enterprise storage hardware/software (SAN), VMWare (ESXi, vcenter, and Horizon), Azure, network switches/routers/firewalls (Cisco preferred), enterprise backup software, enterprise monitoring software, Microsoft Windows (server and desktop), Linux, Microsoft SQL, Python, PowerShell, VBScript, and/or Ansible.
  • Thorough knowledge of ITSM best practices and supporting systems.
  • Management/supervisory experience.
  • Excellent logical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with direct reports, senior management, and other departments.
  • Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in and maintain a highly functional team environment.
  • Industry certifications relevant to the role (CCNP or higher, Microsoft server, Azure, VMWare, CISSP/CISA, PMP, ITIL/ITSM related certifications).
  • Familiarity with enterprise technologies including but not limited to Cisco Meraki, Wireless, routing/switching, SAN, SD WAN, ISE, DNS and firewalls.
  • Experience with ITOps/AIOps and the automation of systems.
  • Experience supporting highly reliable/highly critical systems.
