POSITION TYPE:
Indoor Swim Instructor

LOCATION:
Indoor Pool, Community Recreation Center

SUPERVISOR:
Aquatics Manager

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
The minimum age for a swim instructor is 15 years of age.  Applicants who are under 16 years of age,
must provide a valid work permit by the first day of work.
The ideal candidate will be mature, responsible and have a great attitude. The candidate should want to
share their knowledge and passion for swimming.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior experience working with children and with the sport of swimming is preferred, but not required.

HOURS:
The Indoor Pool is open year-round

 

  • Hours are Sunday through Saturday with a combination of weekday evening and weekend morning hours
  • Shifts vary depending on staff availability
  • Typically, staff receive 10-20 hours a week

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
-Teaches swim classes in accordance with the Park District’s instructional swimming program
-Supervises swimmers in assigned area of the pool during public use
-Attend in-service trainings as scheduled
-Assists with routine cleanup or maintenance when assigned Aquatic Management staff
-Performs the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
-Supports and exhibits the established organizational values of respect, communication, integrity,
innovation, recognition, continuous learning, fun, empowerment and people.
-Work as scheduled

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
-Responsible for set up and clean up of the facility prior to opening and after closing
-Perform other duties or special projects as assigned

PAY RATE:
$14.00/hour and up depending on experience

BENEFITS: Part-Time Staff receive an Individual Outdoor Pool Membership and an Individual Health & Fitness Membership (which includes use of the indoor pool) during the employment period.
