Description

Summary

The Innovation Special Projects Manager will be responsible for partnering with the SVP of Innovation to drive the development and launch of new products for PlayCore’s innovation pipeline.  This individual will manage the innovation process to develop and market products and service opportunities sourced from internal and external partners.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Manage innovation projects through the four stages of the double diamond process to create go-to-market action plans
  2. Manage cross-functional working teams to develop and launch new products and services within the PlayCore innovation pipeline
  3. Qualify new business and product opportunities through a deep understanding of customer and industry needs, trends, and data
  4. Define and execute innovation discovery research
  5. Document insights and identify unmet / unstated needs of the customer
  6. Identify and track trends to find opportunities applicable to the play and recreation industry
  7. Engage and interact with industry experts to identify and implement the development of new products and services applicable to the play and recreation industry
  8. Support the development of new product requirements by providing industry insights and performing additional research (as needed) on promising concepts
  9. Prepare business cases for innovation projects by assessing need, the competitive landscape, financial and non-financial benefits, key operational considerations, and risk factors
  10. Work with product development cross-functional teams to ensure successful handoff for product launches
  11. Navigate and build relationships with partners and vendors for new product/service offerings
  12. Manage relationship and fulfil expectations with external special project partners
  13. Track pilot performance through key metrics and prepare periodic written reports for Senior Managers regarding project status and project direction changes
  14. Make presentations to key stakeholders for the evaluation of product pilots and concepts
  15. Facilitate handoffs of newly developed products/services to distributing brands for the scaling of new product/service offerings
  16. Other duties may be assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 7-9 years progressively more responsible experience in financial and project management
  • Demonstrated project management skills experience, with a proven track record of successful delivery of projects within established timelines, meeting budget expectations and strategy

Travel

Up to 25%

Computer Skills

Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.
