Description

Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Belding, Michigan, Flat River Group, LLC is a leading end-to-end ecommerce partner that works with vendors to take their businesses to the next level by accelerating eCommerce sales growth. We sell a variety of product categories as a 1st Party Seller, including toys & games, pets, baby, outdoor sporting goods, housewares, and more. Flat River Group has experienced incredible growth over the last 11 years, and we now have five US-based distribution facilities.

We’re currently recruiting a dedicated and organized candidate to join our team as a Product Packaging Specialist. This is a new and challenging position that provides testing and compliance support to existing customers, primarily Amazon, as a Subject Matter Expert to ensure Flat River Group’s successful adherence with Ships In Own Container (SIOC) packaging requirements.

This position is primarily responsible for supporting Flat River Group’s SIOC focus in the North American market with potential expansion to other regions. This candidate will report to the Amazon Sales Manager and work closely with the Operations, Purchasing and Sales teams to apply knowledge and training to ensure the portfolio of products offered by Flat River Group through our vendor partners is compliant. The ideal Product Packaging Specialist candidate will have direct experience with packaging requirements and testing to support our rapidly growing and evolving businesses.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform testing and certify existing products in Flat River Group catalog to become SIOC/International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) 6 compliant.

  • Create and maintain Flat River Group’s Self-Certify packaging testing program through Amazon.

    • Design a scalable program to submit container drop data based on priority, with measurable cadence of weekly testing.

    • Ensure the necessary testing documents/images are submitted and approved. If a test does not pass, the errors must be identified and resolved in a timely manner.

  • Track status and ensure catalog changes are executed once SIOC approved.

  • Educate Vendor Partners on retail customer expectations, creating best-in-class reference documents. You will demonstrate testing, receive and review results, and submit testing documents as needed.

  • Work with the operations team to optimize current packaging utilization to minimize corrugate count but still allow for expanding product selection and availability.

  • Reduce brand-supplied packaging and the need for Amazon to add additional protective packaging by training teams on SIOC parameters.

  • Develop best-in-class processes, systems, and standard operating procedures in conjunction with the Operational Excellence team to drive continuous improvement.

  • Work cross-functionally to manage packaging training of SIOC packaging specifications for the Sales, Purchasing and Operations teams.

  • Work cross functionally with Purchasing and Operational Excellence to drive SIOC packaging further up the supply chain to the vendor level.

  • Desire and interest to grow with the company, meaning researching and learning the testing requirements for new business segments and new jurisdictions as opportunity allows.

  • All other duties as assigned.
