SNOW REPORTER JOB SUMMARY:

Assisting the Marketing Manager, the Snow Reporter is responsible for creating, communicating and updating the daily conditions report. This report is updated multiple times per day across the website, social and additional communication channels. The Snow Report also catures, edits, and distributes the daily conditions photo and assists in the collection of video footage. This position provides additional administrative support to the marketing staff and assists with projects related to sales, public relations, events, promotions and e-commerce.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS:

  • Maintaining daily communication with the Mountain Operations team, including patrol, snow makers, groomers and lift maintenance in order to compile, update and disseminate mountain conditions information.

  • Responsible for creating and updating daily conditions reports, including weather, snow and trail conditions, open/close terrain, lift status, resort activities and events.

  • Daily writing of the Snow/Grooming Report and publishing to resort website and app.

  • Responsible for daily updating of the Snow Phone message.

  • Participate in departmental planning efforts to gather information and share communications strategies.

  • Assist in content creation for social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others as determined to reinforce brand, raise awareness and maximize exposure by developing timely, consistent, quality content.

  • Supports live coverage of on-mountain events (photo, video)

  • Skiing/snowboarding daily to accurately report on conditions and capture content.

  • Work closely as a team with the Co-Snow Reporter(s) to convey messaging with one cohesive voice.

  • Assist the Marketing Manager in the creation of other written and visual content for website and marketing materials.

  • Assist in maintaining website content that is current, concise and consistent with marketing strategies and brand guidelines.

 

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Dependable, self-starter, reliable

  • Able to work a variable schedule including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills.

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.

  • Proficient in the use of social media platforms; including Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X, YouTube, LinkedIn.

  • Skilled in the use of a DSLR camera and video cameras, such as Go-Pro.

  • Advanced skier or snowboarder

  • Demonstrates ability to execute tasks and projects independently, handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to foster relationships regardless of personality and maintain a high level of professionalism regardless of situation.

  • Passion for skiing, snowboarding and the outdoor lifestyle.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficient in Google Workspace and other computer functionality

  • Familiarity with photography/videography equipment preferred.

  • Website design or editing experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of the winter resort industry is a must, knowledge and familiarity with Mission Ridge preferred.

  • Associate’s Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in outside weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions as well as extreme cold. 

 

Mission Ridge maintains a drug and alcohol free-workplace as well as a non-smoking facility. Weekend and holiday work may be required and involve extended hours due to the seasonal nature of the business. Due to the seasonal and weather dependent nature of the ski industry, Mission Ridge is an at will employer and all employees are subject to reduced hours and layoffs.
