About the Role:
In this role you’ll be a part of our Billing team. You will leverage your research abilities and highly organized skillset to maintain accounts receivable from insurance companies and monitor insurance policy guideline changes. In this role you will focus on submitting claims and following up on any that are unpaid.
As a Billing Specialist you will:
Complete daily billing tasks including but not limited to:
- Research and resolve assigned tasks
- Update billing of equipment as necessary per new insurance guidelines
- Communicate with patients and insurances in a professional manner
Submit clean claims to insurance companies
- Confirm Sales Order within 2 business days
- Work Ad-Hoc Reports to ensure proper submission of claims
Follow up on unpaid claims including but not limited to:
- Follow up Claim (Invoice) transmission and status
- Submit appeals as appropriate
Other duties or projects as assigned
What we're looking for:
- High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of medical billing experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience that demonstrates a strong knowledge in the field
- Experience in working in healthcare, preferably in Sleep or Durable Medical Equipment environments
- Escalation Customer Service experience highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Prior insurance collecting experience needed
Preferred but not required:
- Experience with Brightree Software
- Brightree Revenue Cycle Work List experience
- Medicare billing experience
Work Environment:
- Remote: Full-time Monday Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm PST w/ 30 minute lunch and two 10-minute breaks
- Adequate technology must be available to perform remote responsibilities
- Adequate privacy and dedicated spacing must be available to perform remote responsibilities
- Non-Exempt (Overtime must be approved in advance with manager)
