Position Summary:

The Marketing Manager’s primary responsibility is to own and manage a very large and critical project for the organization.  This project requires significant research & planning, a brand audit and identity exercise, development of SONC’s creative campaign, and execution of go-to market strategies.  The Marketing Manager is also responsible for supporting other strategic  initiatives within the department.


Responsibilities/ Essential Functions:

  • Partner with the Head of Marketing to craft and execute SONC’s strategic master Marketing plan. 
  • Establish goals and objectives for the long-term project, ensuring accountability across all internal and external partners & stakeholders.
  • Analyze and interpret data to drive long-term strategy, define SONC’s brand identity, and inspire a creative framework for the brand campaign.
  • Create and deploy the branding campaign via off-channel media; to the SONC community (as part of a retention strategy) and to external audiences (as part of a growth strategy). 
  • Conduct market research and provide recommendations to the Head of Marketing regarding cutting-edge marketing strategies.
  • In partnership with the Channel Marketing Manager, oversee relationships with market research partners.
  • Manage existing relationship with pro-bono design firm; identify, develop, and manage relationship with a pro-bono creative agency to roll-out the campaign across various channels, including, but not limited to:  TV, radio, print, social media, email, digital, sponsorship, etc.
  • Seek out and develop relationships with media buying agencies to execute off-channel media campaigns that promote the brand.
  • Map out campaign marketing strategies, working within the budget and resource constraints as/ if they arise.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills & Experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience in marketing or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated  experience managing large projects within budgetary constraints, and an ability to “think outside the box” to gain resources and move the project forward.
  • Exemplary time-management skills to manage numerous time-sensitive project tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be intermediate level with project management software.
  • Knowledge and understanding of sponsorship marketing and sales; expertise in revenue generation.
  • A confidence and comfort in working with C-level stakeholders (both internally & externally). 
  • Proven leadership experience; able to coach and mentor staff as appropriate.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate clearly with various departments, including but not limited to:  Graphic design, public relations and advertising, external  vendors, contractors, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to represent SONC to the public, during media events & product launches, product demonstrations and other marketing events.
  • Strong experience and skills with planning and forecasting budgets.
