PERSONAL GARDENER FOREMAN

1. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This person is responsible to provide Landscape/Horticultural services as directed by the Personal Gardener Supervisor; creating and developing seasonal displays in landscape beds and containers using potted plants, fresh cut greenery / floral supplies, and other décor also contributing to overall maintenance of residential and commercial properties according to established industry standards. 2. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Communicate with managers, supervisors and team members positively and effectively
• Responds politely to customer inquiries and projects a professional image
• Selection and installation of seasonal plant material
• Ongoing care and maintenance of seasonal plantings / containers
• Operating small equipment (examples – blowers, trimmers)
• Tracking of seasonal plants and other materials used on jobsites
• Ongoing communication Supervisor on plant material needed, current and future
• Scheduling weekly appointments with customers and all jobs for the crew
• Mulching beds after planting
• Pruning seasonal and established plants as needed / directed
• Clean up including landscape and outdoor areas of weeds or debris
• Installation of outdoor lighting fixtures
• Cleaning / maintaining outdoor water features including fountains and ponds
• Loading and unloading of trucks, with equipment and materials

3. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

• Apply fertilizer when appropriate
• Apply pre-emergent herbicide with hand spreader
• Apply post-emergent herbicide with sprayer
• Watering of new plant material
• Unloading of equipment and debris upon return
• Other duties as assigned

IV.         QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Ethical, dependable, honest and trustworthy
• Working knowledge of the machinery and tools used in landscape maintenance processes, i.e. Wheelbarrow, hand tools and construction tools
• Strong attention to detail and initiative
• Follows safety standards at all times
• Valid Driver License required
• Excellent communication with customer service being a priority
• Previous experience in the landscape industry working in the field
• Experience identifying all types of plant material successfully grown in this area
• Experience in maintaining water features and outdoor lighting
• Available to work Monday – Saturday each week with flexibility in work hours
• Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to talk, see and hear with or without reasonable accommodations
• Constant walking, bending, carrying, lifting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, etc.

5. JOB ENVIRONMENT:

              This job is mainly performed outdoors.  There are temperature extremes that range from very hot and humid in the summer months to much cooler in the winter.  There is some exposure to fumes, chemicals, fertilizers, dirt, dust, pollen, seeds, noise and water. It is necessary to be in good physical shape, enjoy high amounts of physical labor and be able to work in all-weather elements. This job requires mostly standing and walking, there is also an equal amount of handling large amounts of plant material and equipment. While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, see and hear. Restroom facilities not available on job site.
